INTRODUCTION

This is an outline to a sermon series on the gifts from the Lord according to Paul.  This series was sparked by the two sermons on Twist and Shout - as we completed the sermons, we saw that the prize that we should strive for, the crown of righteousness, is based on our loving His appearing.  Do we REALLY understand what the Lord did so that we would truly love His appearing - or are we just anxious to disappear - not truly loving Him as we ought.

The Prize
An incorruptible Crown - our only crown!

What to do to receive that prize:
(This particular section will be preached at another time)

We are to love his appearing BECAUSE OF HIM, not just what he has done for us.
What has He given us?

He GAVE HIMSELF!

It is not about 'us' even though He said He did it for us!

It is not about our:
    marriage relationships
    jobs
    income
    peace and quiet
    wants
    needs
    homes / houses
    projects
    children
    etc.

IT IS ABOUT HIM!

We are going to look at what it is of Himself that He gives.

Spiritual Gifts!

Paul does want to impart them to us - to the end that ye may be established!

We are going to look at those riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering - the goodness of God!
Romans 2:4 - Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

We are NOT talking about the gifts mentioned in:
We are looking at what Spiritual Gifts Paul tells us about.
This will be an encouraging marvelous study!

By the time we are done, you may find out how to love his appearing - even more!

Who gave himself for us,
that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus 2:14

1) Gave Himself!
2)  Redeemed us from all iniquity!
3)  Gives us gifts to help us be purified unto Himself!
