Hindrances to the Truth
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus,
that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God,
so ye would abound more and more.
I Thessalonians 4:1
Being very confident and bold that this King James Bible is that very word of truth...
...here are things what "WeOughtaNot" do with the truth!
A Few of the Biblically Obvious Hindrances
Leads to vain babblings - and they do babble, eh! Some think we can't, some don't and some won't do the things Paul preaches!  That is too bad - those are the works that will be under judgment.
(Been burnt?  church - preachers - parents - teachers - friends???  So what!)
Romans 2:16 - In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Romans 16:25 - Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
II Timothy 2:8 - Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: I Timothy 6:4-6
That verse nails them to the detail! II Thessalonians 2:12 - That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Some can't  (never heard) - some don't (their choice) - some won't (adamant, stubborn, childish about it)! II Thessalonians 2:10: And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Some can't (receive an imitation) - some don't- some won't! They resist it!
II Timothy 3:8 - Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
They corrupt it!
II Corinthians 2:17 - For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
They pervert it!
Romans 1:23 - And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
They change it!
Romans 1:25 - Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
three warnings - Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18,19 Conscience - seared & defiled!
Romans 1:18,19 - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Romans 10:2,3 - For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
(PS - a lost person still trying to follow Paul will still end up in the lake for fire for eternity!)
More Hindrances to truth that I personally have encountered!
Strength! - Revelation 3:8 - I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
- secular college - girls/boys perversions, world peace and world government; evolution / no God; right and wrong reverses, etc.
- bible college - pass on false teachings/emphasis on brain - church builders - program designers -  outward appearance, etc. take away scriptures/greek, etc. no RD and for the Bible institutes, RD is not far enough! Acts 18:6: And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
II Thessalonians 2:4 - Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
II Timothy 2:25 - In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
Romans 7:15-23 Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Romans 14:1 - Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. I Timothy 1:4 - Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
I Timothy 6:4 - He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
II Timothy 2:23 - But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Titus 3:9 - But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Philippians 4:11 - Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
I Timothy 6:8 - And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Acts 17:21 - (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) I Timothy 6:17,18 - Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;  That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
I Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Mark 4:19 - And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
Luke 8:14 - And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.     - kids (happiness, fun, expenses of, schooling, behavior and personality differences, etc. - life!)
    - employment (Paul is clear that we must work in the world, but...)
    - home projects (cost, time for church as well as study, read, etc.)
    - vacations / trips (timing, cost, trying to buy happiness and fun for the family - is there 'rest' & 'peace' on a 'vacation' anymore?) Still - just another excuse - ask Bro. Gipp about it. Great Commission - common among Christianity today - the flavour in almost all churches now!  It worked 'then' it should work 'now' - NOT!  Music is the power behind today's imitation christianity! haughty - Isaiah 3:16 - Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: We have too many worthless things to do that will just burn!
Proverbs 18:9 - He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
Ephesians 5:16 - Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. No grace - thus they hated Paul's message - nor could they even understand it!
Acts 13:50 - But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
Acts 16:16 - And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: Because of false gospel holiness desire!
Combination of Gospels and wrongly applying the latter NT books such as Hebrews, James, I II III John, etc. Just existence and let things happen the way they will - 'providence of God' to the point of slothfulness!
Colossians 3:1,2 - If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Proverbs 12:24 - The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. - Take charge of your life with the Book as your authority and the Holy Spirit as your guide!
Proverbs 15:19 - The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain. Proverbs 29:25 - The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
