Why Such a Struggle?

So, if you are feeling 'led' to Consider Your Ways and have some concerns about why it is so hard at times...  then let's consider a few possible interferrences in your spiritual life!

I.  You can be having vision problems!
Proverbs 29:18  Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Romans 1:18  All folks are given something from God...

I Corinthians 2:9-16 - see the deeper things of God

John 20:29  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

II Peter 1:19-021 - choosing sight over words?  not a sure word of prophecy!   We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

II.  You are afraid to 'take risks!'
Luke 5:3-6  And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.  Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.  And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

Psalm 34:7,8 - taste Him   The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

II Kings 6:16,17  And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.  And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Psalm 37:3-7  Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psalm 40:4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

III.  You are afraid of people!
Proverbs 29:25,26  The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.  Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

Psalm 118:8,9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Psalm 9:9,10 - The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Psalm 18:2,30 - The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the
LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psalm 20:7,8  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

Psalm 31:1 -  In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

Psalm 91:2 -  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

IV.  You are driven by emotion rather than by sound thought!
II Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

II Timothy 4:3-5  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

II Peter 1:19 - We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

V.  You are lazy!
Proverbs 21:25,26a  The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.  He coveteth greedily all the day long:

Proverbs 15:19  The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

VI.  You are too busy and full of excuses!
Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Matthew 22:1-10

VIII.  You refuse to follow wise counsel!

Psalm 71:1  In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

Ephesians 4:11,12  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

IX.  You ONLY do what others do and say!
Luke 1:59-63  And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

    c.  fighting the wrong battles -
    d.  fighting improperly
II Tim 2:23-26  But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
    e.  it's not even our fight!  Plant and water..., swing the sword but the sword does the cutting and healing, drop the hammer and it breaks the rocks into pieces or pounds it together!!!

Jude 20-23
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.  And of some have compassion, making a difference:  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

X.  You have a problem with the written Scriptures!
    a.  You are not willing to go BY the Scriptures!
Luke 4:4  And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
