Review Ezra:

After the regathering from the captivity of Babylon, etc. it is now time to rebuild the Temple.

this is the 2nd temple.

4:1-6
They had their Adversaries:

Offered their help - said they had the same purpose!

Ye have nothing to do with us...

Rejected - they were liars, of course!

Weakened their hands!

Troubled them in building

Hired counselors against them!

To frustrate their purpose

Made false accusations!

Written
Showed up later, too - 4:17-22

Made them cease by force and power! 4:23

Ezra 5-10

1,2 - Haggai and Zechariah along with Zerubbabel come into the scene

God had to get the people to want to build the temple!

Now is the time to read Zechariah

5:3-5 - when they saw the temple work was beginning...
5:6- they wrote a letter to Darius the king:
6:1-12 - Bless them, and let them build, according to Darius's decree - and let it be done with speed!

7:11 - Letter that Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra...
7:13 - read the the decree
7:21,22 - blessed by the "government!"
8:21,23 - fasting and beseeching the government
9:1-15 - Ezra shocked when he finds the people have gone back to their idolatrous ways by no longer living separately from the heathen. 9:11,12.
