I & II Chronicles; I Samuel; Psalms David
& Solomon's Music
As we continue
with David and somewhat an early start with Solomon, we see a great ensample
from them concerning music. We must remember, though, there is a
difference between being an ensample and example. We
ought NOT follow them in example concerning music. Still, their
influence is great - and David's Psalms are marvelous - his praises, rejoicings,
worship and thanksgivings are never said better than through David.
We just can't forget that trying to claim any so-called 'Biblical example'
in today's modern Christian music scene is negated by Paul and the King
James Bible rightly divided, of course!
We
see an opportunity to better understand David...
Our ensample: as Paul instructs to us in I
Corinthians 10:11, we can look to David as an ensample for us
to "learn from," but not an example to 'follow.'Now
all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written
for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
when we read, it is not always just about 'us.' - we can find an understanding
of others - to be an ensample - or to just learn about others and how they
lived their lives for or against God!
As a person! had his times of being rotten / bloody, etc.

A musician - I Samuel 16:16b - who
is a cunning player on an harp... I Samuel
16:18 -Then answered one of the
servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite,
that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war,
and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
cunning -Knowing; skillful; experienced;
well-instructed. It is applied to all kinds of knowledge, but generally
and appropriately, to the skill and dexterity of artificers, or the knowledge
acquired by experience.

- Woe to them that are at ease in Zion... That chant to the sound of the
viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; (See
in modern versions - 'like David did," etc. trying to show that
David did his music for himself, too - just trying to justify today's wicked
CCM and "Christian music" scene.)
