our "Old Testament" highlights as to what is in those books FOR us, even
though there is nothing in those books TO us! There are many Paulish
churches that tend to ignore the OT. That is a shame. Not only
are they missing the completeness of the Scriptures, it is NOT God's design
at all. II Timothy 2:16 says that ALL
scripture.. that includes all 66 Books of the King James
Bible. While they are not all TO us, they certainly are all FOR
us!
OT Ensamples
for us!
Paul even tells us
to look to those OT Scriptures for our ensample! I
Corinthians 10:11 - Now all these
things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition,
upon
whom the ends of the world are come.
I
will say it again, "We just continue to see more and more OT applications
falsely taught today during the time of Paul's gospel and the dispensation
of grace!
I
Chronicles is, in part, the same as II
Samuel. It has to do with the story of David, prefaced
with 9 chapters of Genealogies. The Genealogies cover the period
from Adam to the Jew's Return from Captivity - what a great historical
review.
Chronicles gets a lot of material
from 'other histories, etc. as stated within the chapters of
I & II Chronicles...
-
The book of Samuel the seer
-
The book of Nathan the prophet
-
The book of Gad the seer
-
The prophecy of Ajijah the Shilonite
-
The visions of Iddo the seer
-
The book of Shemaiah the prophet
-
The story of the prophet Iddo
-
The book Jehu the son of Hanani
-
The story of the book of the kings
-
The acts of Uzziah, which Isaiah wrote
-
The vision of Isaiah the prophet
-
The book of the kings of Judah and Israel
-
The sayings of the seers.
Author
So, the author has been pretty much
accounted to Ezra by Jewish tradition. He had access to journals,
diaries and public records that are not now known. He also had access
to previous Old Testament books. Guided of God, he transcribed that
which God directed!
