What's In It FOR Us?

I Samuel 5-15

Continuing our "Old Testament" highlights as to what is in those books FOR us, even though there is nothing in those books TO us!  There are many Paulish churches that tend to ignore the OT.  That is a shame.  Not only are they missing the completeness of the Scriptures, it is NOT God's design at all. II Timothy 2:16 says that ALL scripture.. that includes all 66 Books of the King James Bible.  While they are not all TO us, they certainly are all FOR us!

OT Ensamples for us!
Paul even tells us to look to those OT Scriptures for our ensample!  I Corinthians 10:11 - Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

I will say it again, "We just continue to see more and more OT applications falsely taught today during the time of Paul's gospel and the dispensation of grace!

I Samuel 5-15
Just a short outline today - most of this class time is set up for one of our teens who will tell us about Saul and the Amalekites.

Chapter 5,6 - a few comments showing similarities in comparing the stealing of the ark and the stealing of the KJB today!
Chapter 7:6-8 - how the folks wanted a king anyway against God's wishes, but God said to go ahead anyway!
Chapter 7:10-18 - Samuel tells the people what their lives will be like with a king - but they still wanted one anyway - to be like the other folks.
Chapter 9-11 - Saul - a goodlier person than any other.

Comments on I Samuel 9:27 - Stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God; and I Samuel 12:7, ... stand still, that I amy reason with you before the LORD...

Chapter 12 - Saul preaches to the people - starts it all off with a thunderstorm on their harvest - to get them to fear the LORD.  Too bad Saul didn't heed to his own preaching!  Consider how often parents try to throw thunderstorms into the lives of their family to get the kids, etc. to fear the parents - or even God, etc.

Chapter 13,14 - did not discuss
Chapter 15 - Sam tells us the story of Saul and the Amalekites - followed by a few questions from the peanut gallery!
