Another Sermon for the Starving Bible Believing Christians All Over the World Wide Web
2005 - Touchet Baptist Church, Touchet, Washington - Pastor Mike Paulson - 2005
Expounding the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:26 - with the Scriptures Rightly Divided - II Timothy 2:15

So What About Those Sins
In Our Daily Lives?
What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
GOD FORBID!
How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:2

Since we got into this Paul "kick," some folks think we believe that we don't sin now!
Because we don't claim I John 1:9, they throw back at us I John 1:10!

Folks, this is an issue EVERYBODY MUST deal with!
Romans 3:9-12 - What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Romans 3:19 - Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Without Christ, all people are dead in their sins!
Ephesians 2:1 - And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Ephesians 2:5 - Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Romans 7:5 - For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Remission?  sure...
Mark 1:4 - John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Luke 1:77 - To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Luke 3:3 - And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
Luke 24:47 - And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10:43 - To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

And Forgiveness? - sure...
Acts 5:31 - Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 13:38 - Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
Acts 26:18 - To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Ephesians 1:7 - In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1:14 - In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

But even more!
Washed Away!  Revelation 1:5 - And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Cut Away - Colossians 2:12 - Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.  See Hebrews 4:12 also.
Put Away! - Colossians 2:11 - In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Kept Away! - Romans 4:8,24 - Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin 24: But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

We have no law for righteousness now!
Romans 5:13 - For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Romans 10:4 - For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

We are made the righteousness of God!
Romans 5:19 - For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 3:21 - But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Romans 3:22 - Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
II Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

All things are become new!
II Corinthians 5:21 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Yes folks, our soul is holy NOW!
II Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Colossians 2:11-15 - Spiritual Circumcision!
Ephesians 1:6 - To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Colossians 1:21,22 -  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

We are never again called a sinner!
In OT, that was the Gentiles (dogs).  Now it is the lost people that are referred to as sinners.

How about the details of that sin that is still in our lives.
Read Romans 6,7,8

Bad works still must burn!
We know that the 'sins' are the 'bad works' that will burn in our judgment seat fires.  I Corinthians 3:11-15.  Our sins have already done their damage (wages of sin is death) and been judged (at Calvary) and paid for by Christ (on the cross and in Hell) and blood returned to God in Hebrews 9:12-17!

Receive for the right AND wrong!
We know that we will still receive for the wrong (not sins) that we do!  Colossians 3:24,25 - Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.  But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Open beforehand and later!
We also know that Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.  I Timothy 5:24,25

But through all that, we must remember,
Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

But what about our daily lives?
What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
GOD FORBID!
How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 61:2

What does that 'sinning' do?  Those 'bad works!'  Is there an affect now?
You betcha!
1.  Sin against your own body!
I Corinthians 6:18 -  Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
The incontinence or lewdness of unmarried persons, male or female; also, the criminal conversation of a married man with an unmarried woman;
Adultery
Incest
and don't forget Idolatry; a forsaking of the true God, and worshipping of idols.  II Chronicles. 21.  Rev. 19.

2.  Gives you trouble in the flesh!
I Corinthians 7:28 - But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

3.  Wound a weak conscience!
I Corinthians 8:12 - But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

4.  Be a bad witness!
I Corinthians 15:34 - Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

5.  Led you away to the world and all that comes with it!
II Timothy 3:6 - For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

6.  We quench and grieve the Spirit.
I Thessalonians 5:19 - Quench not the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

7.  We do lose those rewards at the judgment Seat - but not the inheritance... that is reserved!
I Corinthians 3:15 - If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

8.  We give the devil an opportunity to accuse Christ!
Revelation 12:10 - And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

9. Rob you of God's peace!
Philippians 4:6,7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:9 -  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10.  We live like spoiled unthankful childish brats that make God sick!
Revelation 3:16 - So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

So, what do we do about that stuff?

We ought still not partake!  I Timothy 5:22 - ... neither be partaker of other men's sins...

We need to be rebuked I Timothy 5:20 - Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

Strengthen our conscience so you can take the preaching we need!
We have no excuse - we have the Book!  We can't claim a seared or defiled conscience, only a weak one!
II Corinthians 4:1, 2 - Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
We are to preach to their conscience!
II Corinthians 5:11,12 -  Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

We need Paul to preach to and at us!  II Corinthians 13:1-10
Galatians 4:20 - I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
I Corinthians 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Quit using God and abusing His grace!
Romans 3:31 - Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Romans 6:2 - God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:15 - What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Quit giving place to the devil!
Ephesians 4:27 - Neither give place to the devil.

Stop feeding the flesh!
(including those subtle and subliminal foods such as music, images, tv/videos, etc.)
Romans 13:14: But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

We need to quit 'choosing' to follow sin!
Romans 6:6 - Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:13 - Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Examine Yourself!
Are you truly saved? do you KNOW?  or have you been tricked into a false salvation by an imitation spirit by imitation preaching out of an imitation bible in an imitation church?
II Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Matthew 7:21-23 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

If you know you are saved, then expect a battle!
Romans 7:25 - I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Remember the earlier stuff in this sermon - and if you fall...
Get up, and keep going!
Tighten that armour!
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Ephesians 6:16

Quit trying to justify your life by someone else's 'sins'!
Quit making excuses.

Remember Paul's life!
Don't listen to the Gospel Gainsayers!
Don't turn to music - to other books - to your own feelings...

Put God before yourself!
Think more of God's pleasure instead of your own!
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things,
and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11
...not lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
II Timothy 3:4

Stay close to the Lord!  Sup with Him!
Stay in the Book, Listen to the Book, Read the Book, Study the Book,
Rightly Divide the Book (keeps you from getting more messed up and miserable, etc.)
Believe the Book, Follow the book!

It is more than just another "Book!"
It isn't even the ''bible."

It is the Holy Scriptures - the King James Bible!
It is how we Sup with Christ!
Revelation 3:20

All things are still become new!
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
II Corinthians 4:16
Now, try again - walk like you are holy - because your soul is!!
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
Ephesians 4:1

Is it "well," or is it "ill" with your soul?

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll;
 whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.
Refrain:
 It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control,
 that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
 (Refrain)

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!  My sin, not in part but the whole,
 is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
 (Refrain)

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
 the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, even so, it is well with my soul.
 (Refrain)

If it is well with your soul, then how is it with your 'members?'
Don't stop with the Great Commission, move on the Greater Commission!
It is the way of God more perfectly!
It is a more excellent way!
