"Helpers of Our Joy" - Part IV
How Our Helpers Want to Help Us with Our Joy!
Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
II Corinthians 1:24

We looked at specific helpers in part III...
...today, we look at the specifics of just how we are to be helped - if we are willing, that is!

It is not about a joy based on works or our 'honourable and holy' walk - as demanded by your pastor!
They tend to sink ships today as they are destroying the faith of many Bible Believing Christians...
...along with all the other modern pastors and teachers, etc.

It IS about a joy based on our faith, a faith that we must stand on!

We saw in the previous sermon that Paul is our main helper. Along with Paul, however, we saw a long list of specific helpers;
along with his 'beloved sons in the faith," Timotheus and Titus.

For our own list of helpers, we should not forget...
Ephesians 4:11,12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints,
for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Another Pauline Observation
Are we told 'today' to open our doors to Jesus? - Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

We know of Paul!

Our teacher - I Timothy 2:7 - Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
His ways are to taught and preached and learned in every church -I Corinthians 4:16,17 - Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

Help us to be ensamples to others!

• I Thessalonians 1:6-8 - And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

• II Corinthians 5:11 - Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
• I Timothy 2:4 - Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
• II Timothy 2:25 - In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

• I Thessalonians 3:1-5 - Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

• bring good tidings of faith and charity
• help us remember to turn to Paul and his Epistles "TO" us.
• I Thessalonians 3:5,6 - For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

  ---

• be nourished up in the words of faith!
• preaching of good doctrine - able to endure sound doctrine!
• I Timothy 4:6 - If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
• Titus 2:1 - But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
• Titus 1:9 - Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

• I Corinthians 16:10,11 - Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.  Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.
• II Timothy 2:24-26 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

• II Corinthians 7:5,6 - For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

• II Corinthians 7:7 - And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

• II Corinthians 8:6,7 -  Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
• Growing in grace will need to take place in the Tribulation - see II Peter 3:18.  We can already live with this grace today!  We don't have to go boldly to the throne - we already have it!

• not blame the preacher, teacher, etc. for a fake testimony and message of grace, etc!
• not be a grace abuser!
• II Corinthians 8:16-21 - But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.  For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you. And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches; And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind: Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:  Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

• II Corinthians 8:22-24 - And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you. Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.  Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

• II Corinthians 12:18,19 -  I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
• I Corinthians 10:23 - All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
• Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
• I Thessalonians 5:11 - Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

• Philippians 3:17-19 - Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.  (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
• Romans 16:17,18 - Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

• to endure our persecutions and tribulations
• II Thessalonians 1:4,5 - So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

• See above II Thessalonians 1:5 - ...that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.
• Fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness!
• Fulfill the work of faith with power!
• II Thessalonians 1:11 - Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

• II Thessalonians 3:1a, 2 - Finally, brethren, pray for us, ...And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
