Vacations
A short outline for the bonus 'pauciloquent' sermon for tonight!
(20 minute)
See Nehemiah 4:10, 11, 17

Vacation - why?
It is an escape from what?
    home?
    kids?
    work?

Why do we need to 'escape' our home, our kids, etc.

So some folks take a vacation from home by going to work?
happier there, cooler, warmer?  cleaner?  more peace at work?

Do pastors really 'need' a vacation?
    from what?
from pulpit?  i can't imagine taking a vacation from preaching - pastoring, yes, but preaching?
from duties?  only be behind when you come back
from the people?  only if he is tired of preaching psychology sermons trying to get folks to change their lives
Do the people need a vacation from the pastor?  the preaching?  the teaching?

Pastors are concerned while gone:
    wolves
    getting behind in work
    not feeding the family
    cost of the trip
    time away

What do we get out of a vacation?
    more debt - spend money
    behind at home
pay big bucks to try to 'be' something you are not at home
a vacation is usually NOT a vacation for 'mom' - it is usually more work than being at home!!!
you miss church / preaching, etc. unless you are strong enough Christian to still read your Bible and find a Bible Believing church - or do it yourself during your trip.

A few extra comments getting rest:
