Learning the Way of God More Perfectly
King James Bible 1611 Then and Today

Why is the Bible Such a Unique Book?

The Bible is unique because of its substance.
The Bible is God's word to man.
1 Thessalonians 2:13  "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe."

Because the Bible is God's word, He inspired it by His Holy Spirit that it would be exactly what He desired it to be.
2 Peter 1:21  "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

The Bible is unique because of its survival.
It is the oldest book you can buy. It has been translated into every major language and most minor languages around the world. It will endure forever!
1 Peter 1:25  "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

The Bible's endurance is because God preserved His word and man cannot destroy it. Governments, churches, and dictators have for thousands of years tried to destroy the word of God but God has given it providential preservation.
Psalms 12:6-7  "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

The Bible is unique because of its message.
It is God's plan for man revealed, it is the evidence of things hoped for and the substance of things not yet seen. We have faith because of what we read in this book. We learn that the only way to heaven is through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, what we call the Gospel, through this book.
1 Peter 1:23-25  "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."
Hebrews 11:1-2  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report."

The Bible is unique because of its authority.
Only by the Bible is the soul converted. It is perfect, sure, right, pure, clean, true, and rewarding.
Psalms 19:7-11  "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."

God chose to save the lost through the preaching of the Word of God. The lost see the word and its preaching as foolishness, but it so tugs at the heart that they run from any exposure to that preaching.
1 Corinthians 1:18-21  "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe."

The Bible is unique because of its theme.
The entire Bible is centered on the King (the Lord Jesus Christ) and His kingdom, that He must first suffer and die, and being raised the third day from the dead effect salvation to all that believe.
Luke 24:44-47  "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

The Bible is unique because of its purpose.
The Bible is able to make us wise to salvation, then it instructions us in doctrine, and righteousness. The Bible also reproves us and corrects us. That is the main reason that people hate the Bible, and that liberal theologians and preachers are always trying to change the Bible – they do not want to be corrected!
2 Timothy 3:15-17  "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

The Bible is unique because of what it produces.
There is no other book ever written that produces in the life
of its readers the things that the Bible does.
