Introduction of Series:
Without Christ, the world is an ungodly place - the whole world lieth in wickedness (I John 5:19 - it will still be in I John as it is today and as it was in the past as will be the people who reject Christ in the Millennium!

Ungodliness
Romans 1:18
Jude 4,15,18
II Peter 2:6
II Peter 3:7
I Peter 4:18

The law is for the ungodly!
I Timothy 1:9
The law is / was the schoolmaster!
Galatians 3:23-27

Christ died for the ungodly!
Romans 5:6
Romans 4:5

Because we are saved, then we are called to DENY ungodliness!
Titus 2:12-15   Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Our Delight is the rightly divided law!
Psalm 1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.   And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.   Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.   For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

We can now truly bring fruit unto God!
Romans 7:4  Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

The ONLY verse that tells us "how" to know how we can deny ungodliness so we can bring fruit to God
is II Timothy 2:15...
...that is how important it is to rightly divide these Scriptures!

From the ungodliness of this world, we must:
II Timothy 3:1-7 - from such turn away!
I Timothy 6:3-5 - from such  withdraw thyself!

Thus the importance of this series on judgment!

I.   Paul tells us to beware!
II.  Let's Rightly Divide Judgment!
III. Look at the consequences of ungodliness in our lives as a Christian!
IV. Learn how to apply it all from Paul!
V.  Finally - Let's enjoy our understanding of it all - an assurance and comforting peace that passeth all understanding - a peace of God from the God of peace.  This is something I see very few Christians have a handle on.  They have fallen for bondage of the Great Commissional teachings, they sit under the thumb of their pastor as he teaches them incorrectly about sin and live a life with a walk that will mostly just burn at their judgment seat.

Christians seem to be wasting what God has for us today concerning the real Christian life - a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty, living a life that brings forth fruit unto God - NOT OURSELVES.  Yes, even in this wicked world and hour of temptation!

What a shame, too - especially when we have HIS VERY WORDS today in that King James Bible!

BEWARE

Paul has only two warnings - but they speak exactly - in more detail - of what Jesus Christ warned to His people.

I.  Philippians 3:2  Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Jesus teachings on this:  see Matthew 7:15; 10:17; Mark 12:38; Luke 20:46  You see, we don't ignore Jesus's teachings, but in a doctrinal manner, He was warning the Jews of the same thing concerning others, including the dogs trying to get folks to stick with Moses and reject Christ - and I would suppose even of the Gentiles and they were called dogs, too!  But Paul is the one who has the direct warning that applies to much more than Jesus would have been speaking of.

II.  Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Jesus teachings on this:  see Matthew 16:6,11,12; Mark 8:15; Luke 12:1  Beware of the the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Paul reminds us as well... Galatians 5:9: A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

P.S.  Do you see, Paul does preach Jesus' teachings, only Jesus Christ as has given to him more details to preach TO us today.

Conclusion:

The words of God...
Deuteronomy 6:3-12

A good prayer and goal

Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:  Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD?  or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.  Proverbs 30:7-9

Even WE can learn from Sodom!

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.  And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.    Exekiel 16:49,50
pride
fulness of bread
abundance of idleness
ignored the poor
haughty
committed abomination before God

Jesus warned using Sodom for an example: Mark 6:11  And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Peter warned about Sodom:  II Peter 2:6  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;  The Tribulation was coming up when Peter wrote this.  But we can still learn some lessons for our lives, but we dont' have to worry about God's judgment on us as Christians!
