Paul's First Charge to Timothy
I Timothy 1:3-20
This is a charge to remember the purpose of the law and those who pervert it.
It is also a charge to remember the true nature of the gospel and the need
for a MILITARY approach to maintaining its purity.
Men, Here is Our First Charge!
Men - Husbands/Fathers, it is our responsibility to make sure our family understands all of what the KJV 1611 Holy Bible is.  Our family is to be aware and understand the attack on the words of Jesus Christ.  We must be sure our family understands about rightly dividing the word of truth (II Tim 2:15) along with the purposes of the scriptures (II Tim 3:16), etc.

Make sure our family understands and lives the militancy of the Book.  It is an easy thing for todays' Christian families to fall into Satan's trap regarding the 'soft' approach so desired by everyone today (II Tim 4:3,4; Jeremiah 2:33).  As men, we are called to be a soldier (II Timothy 2:3) and to endure the battles that will come about for our family if we stick to the KJV 1611.  We are called to do the work of an evangelist, making full proof of our ministry (II Tim 4:5), which within this study is applicable to me as the 'pastor' to a local church, to you other men as the 'pastor' of your family and then to those with new converts as they  'pastor' that newly saved person.

Note Paul's concern about doctrine - vs 3 - that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine.  He also states in vs 10 - ...if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine.

Doctrine, of which is the first purpose of the written scriptures (II Tim 3:16), is one of the reasons that people don't want this Book around.   All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  It seems that people can put up with reproof; correction; even instruction in righteousness - but doctrine?  NOPE! For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.   II Timothy 4:3,4

Doctrine belongs to God
Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
John 7:16

Doctrine speaks with authority!
And they were astonished at his doctrine:
for he taught them as one that had authority,
and not as the scribes.
Mark 1:22
And they were all amazed,
insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying,
What thing is this? what new doctrine is this?
for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits,
and they do obey him.
Mark 1:27

Doctrine astonishes some and scares others!
And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him:
for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
Mark 11:18

Doctrine speaks with power!
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Luke 4:32

Doctrine is what saved you and me!
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin,
but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:17,18
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not
in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
he hath both the Father and the Son.
II John 9

We are commanded to speak sound doctrine!
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine...
Titus 2:1+

We are commanded to give attendance to doctrine!
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
I Tim 4:13

We are commanded to labour in doctrine!
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour,
especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
I Timothy 5:17

We are commanded to exhort with doctrine!
 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
II Timothy 4:2
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught,
that he may be able by sound doctrine both
to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Titus 1:9

We are commanded to teach no other doctrine!
As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia,
that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
I Timothy 1:3

We are told that some are easily blown about by winds of doctrine -
be that they are physical or spiritual children or our wives!
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Ephesians 4:14
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,
giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel...
I Peter 3:7a
For of this sort are they which creep into houses,
and lead captive silly women laden with sins,
led away with divers lusts,
II Timothy 3:6

We are told that the devil has his doctrines!
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly,
that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
I Timothy 4:1

We are told what to do with those who teach other doctrine!

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
I Timothy 6:3

We are warned to not let those with false doctrine
into our own home!
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
II John 10,11

All of those "commandments" sorta explain the war & the hockey game that we are in, amen?
People just don't want doctrine!  It is as simple as that!!
Do You?

When we are spreading the Seed,
what kind of ground does the word of God fall upon?
Luke 8:11-15
11: Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
We have some folks visit and never come back the second time!
12: Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil,
and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
We have some folks who come for awhile,
they enjoy it - sort of - but when the going gets tough, they quit coming!
13: They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy;
and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
We have some folks who come for awhile,
but are so caught up in themselves & their riches along with their problems
& their difficulties - and also with the pleasures of those riches,
that they eventually quit coming!
14: And that which fell among thorns are they, which,
when they have heard, go forth,
and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life,
and bring no fruit to perfection.
There are those that stay no matter what!
15: But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart,
having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

For those that go AWOE!
(absent without excuse)
For those who don't want to fight the devil (Eph 6)
the Lord just gives them back to the devil!

Holding faith, and a good conscience;
which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan,
that they may learn not to blaspheme.
I Timothy 1:19,20

They want the world - then let them have it.
They are at enmity with God, not you!
The god of this world is Satan, not God - no matter how well or religiously they "live" in it!
They'll learn that it is not the place to be, amen? Amen!
They will just have to learn the hard way!

We continue to pray that they do come back to where
the Word of God is preached!

One Final Thought!
I Timothy 1:11,12
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,
which was committed to my trust.
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me,
for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
As men of this church and the man of the family, and with your presence within this particular church in Touchet, WA., you have been given the responsibility of 'preserving' - 'keeping' the living word of God in it's purity and inerrant place in this wicked world.  It will take a militant commitment on our part to do what we can to keep this KJV 1611 unchanged and available to people.  We must pass this book on to the next generation!
Remember, as Paul said, it is
Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful...

Be faithful to Him!  Be faithful to His Book!
Be faithful to the Body of Christ!  Be faithful to your local assembly!
Be faithful to your pastor!  Be faithful to your family!

We can even be faithful to those who have 'left' the flock!
When they want to return,
we will be here with the Bible - the KJV1611!

Let's not let anyone down, amen?  AMEN!
