Part V How meaning of words is affected by spelling changes |
Music - Musick
Music as we see it spelled in America should be spelled 'musick'
in your KJB1611. See Luke 15:25
for one example.
Ceiling
See I Kings 6:15 for "cieling."
That is correct, even though we 'know' that "i" comes before "e" except
after 'c.' Again, that is the British spelling and is also Spanish,
French and Italian to have the 'i' before the 'e' in this case.
Cunning
Cunning has many different
meanings - all the references in the KJB1611 define those meanings within
each verse. We can now most certainly see how cunning is used in
I Samuel 16 towards musicians.
Shall - Will
Modern bibles substitute 'will' for 'shall.'
Shall - to express the speaker's
belief regarding his future action or state.
Will - to express determination
or his consent.
Which - Who
Modern bibles substitute 'who' for 'which.'
O Lord, which art, and wast, and shall
be.
'Which' refers to the unity
of the Godhead.
The singular stresses the unity of the group; the plural points ot
the personal individuality of is members. This is one of the many
ways the Trinity is rejected in new bibles today.
That -Which
"That' is the defining or limiting
pronoun; 'which' gives a reason or
adds a fact.
Alway - Always
Alway means all the way - the whole way!
Always means every time
II Corinthians 4:10 -
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that
the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
II Corinthians 4:11 -
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake,
that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
Is that not just plain exciting to see how the
word 'alway'
gives verse 11 great depth - not the word always!
Prevent - precede
vent means 'come'
cede means 'go'
In I Thessalonians
4:15, which perspective is best.
Come to God (from God) or go to God (from the people's view).
Ensue - pursue
ensue means to follow or seek after -
peacefully, etc. I Peter 3:11-13
pursue means to follow with hostility.
Genesis 35:5; 14:14
Entreat - treat
Entreat is always applied to persons
Treat is always applied to persons and
things.
Modern bibles often change entreat to treat.
