...expounded unto him the way of God
more perfectly. Acts 18:26 The
Sermon on the Mount Compared to Paul's Epistles Part
III Matthew
5:7-9
7: Blessed
are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Well, they eventually didn't receive the mercy they
were told they could have!
ran out? or ignored? Didn't seek?
OT - off and on... with God's call based on
their seeking, etc.
Psalm 33:22 - Let
thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
Had to pray to receive it, too!
Hebrews 4:16 - Let
us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.
It was God's choice as to who and when!
Romans 9:15-18 - For
he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will
have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him
that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For
the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised
thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be
declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will
have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
But today, God allows things to continue on...
Romans 2:5 -But
after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath
against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Gentiles have it now!
Romans 9:22-26
Romans 11:30,31:
For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy
through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed,
that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded
them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
We should show mercy to them, now!
Romans 11:28
- As concerning the gospel, they are
enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved
for the fathers' sakes.
Show it with cheerfulness!
Romans 12:8: Or
he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity;
he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Because of God's mercy, Paul is our pattern!
Acts 9:20-22
- And straightway he preached Christ
in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. But all that heard him were
amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this
name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring
them bound unto the chief priests? But Saul increased the more in strength,
and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very
Christ.
I Timothy 1:16 -
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ
might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should
hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Glorify God because of it!
Romans 15:8-10 -
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the
truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: And that the
Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause
I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. And
again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
The rule to follow!
Galatians 6:16
- And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy,
and upon the Israel of God.
We can pray for mercy on others as mercy to us, as
well!

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not
on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
God is rich in mercy!
Ephesians 2:4-7 -
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he
might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us
through Christ Jesus.
Our salvation is based on it!
Titus 3:5 - Not
by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy
he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
8: Blessed
are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
