Serious
Christians
Part XIII
How should a serious Christian
see the King James Bible?
Strengthened with all might, according to
his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with
joyfulness; Colossians 1:11
Learn of God's longsuffering
Knows the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance!
Romans 2:4 - Or
despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering;
not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Not fear of God's judgment
Romans 2:3,5
- And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such
things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself
wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment
of God;
Although Paul does certainly mention it.
II Corinthians 5:11 - Knowing
therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest
unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
God is not mocked!
Galatians 6:7-9
- Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh
reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap
life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season
we shall reap, if we faint not.
The judgment seat will take care of all that we do
in the bad works area.
Exhibits longsuffering himself
Galatians 5:22 -
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith,
Forbears one another in love - the brethren, that
is.
Ephesians 4:2 - With
all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another
in love;
Follows Paul's pattern of longsuffering.
I Timothy 1:16 - Howbeit
for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew
forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe
on him to life everlasting.
II Timothy 3:10 - But
thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering,
charity, patience,
Able to preach out of season reproving, rebuking
and exhorting with all longsuffering and Paul's doctrine...
II Timothy 4:2 -
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke,
exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Source of Patience
Strengthened unto all patience...
Colossians 1:11 - Strengthened
with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and
longsuffering with joyfulness;
Tries to follow the command!
I Timothy 6:11 -
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Understands the Tribulational definition of patience
James 1:4 - But
let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing.
Revelation 13:10 -
He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth
with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and
the faith of the saints.
Revelation 14:12 -
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments
of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Is aware that Paul still does mention if often, though.
Romans 5:3 - And
not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation
worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.
Romans 8:25 -
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Scriptures
Romans 15:4 - For
whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Again, the brethren, not just everyone!
Romans 15:5 -
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one
toward another according to Christ Jesus:
I Thessalonians 1:3 -
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our
Father;
II Thessalonians 1:4 - So
that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience
and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
Paul's example
II Timothy 3:10 -
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith,
longsuffering, charity, patience,
Titus 2:2 - That
the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in
patience.
For Consolation
Comfort, alleviation of misery, or distress of
mind; refreshment of mind or spirits; a comparative degree of happiness
in distress or misfortune, springing from any circumstance that abates
the evil, or supports and strengthens the mind, as hope, joy, courage and
the like.
God of patience and consolation
Again, this serious Christian knows it is to be directed
from him towards the brethren only.
Romans 15:5 -
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one
toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Philippians 2:1-3 -
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love,
if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my
joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord,
of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but
in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Sufferings / consolation
II Corinthians 1:5 - For
as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth
by Christ.
Sees the consolation with Titus because of the serious
Christian's fervent mind toward Paul's teachings!
II Corinthians 7:6,7
- Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted
us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation
wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire,
your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
Knows it is an everlasting consolation
II Thessalonians 2:16,17 - Now
our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved
us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
