What Is a Proverb?

Most of the book consists of unconnected individual proverbs. A proverb can express a contrast. A proverb can be a statement with a 'result' or consequence. Many proverbs use figurative language. Proverbs are designed primarily for teaching compact, practical statements that stick in the mind.
