We go with Colossians 2:6 today about receiving Christ because that is written TO us.  John 1:11,12 is written FOR us but it TO the Gospel Jews.  Their need for receiving is different than ours today.  Note: John 17:8 - this is their point of believing.

I Corinthians 3:10 tells us that we should follow the foundation (Jesus Christ) as laid by Paul, not by the gospels, not the Great Commission, not by Tribulation doctrine, etc.

They are not TO us today.

You will notice that these are common among the Pentecostals and the modern Church movements such as purpose driven, mainline denominations as well as the non-denominational denominations, etc.

Unfortunately, you are hearing these same references being applied by more and more of our own KJV Bible Believing churches as well.  Even if they don't preach these references, they are preaching the following teachings.
