Romans 8:31-35

Romans 8:31 - What shall we then say to these things?

1. Romans 8:31 - If God be for us, who can be against us?

Well, let's see - the list is long, isn't it!
But to sum it all up, we know those that are against us are: the world; the flesh; the devil!
How To Achieve Victory?

Walk in the Spirit - vs. 1,4
Mind the things of the Spirit - vs. 5
Mortify the deeds of the body - vs. 13
Suffer with Him - vs. 17
Wait for the Saviour in hope - vss. 23-24
Then enjoy the final victory - II Thessalonians 1:7-12
Stay in the fight until the end! I Timothy 6:12 - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

2. Romans 8:32 - He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

He will not GIVE us all that we 'want.'

However, He will LET us have anything we 'want' - God is not a controlling manipulator!
He doesn't employ "threat management."

Just don't blame Him if something doesn't work out or causes problems in your life.

Be Content with our needs being fulfilled!

I Timothy 6:8 - And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Philippians 4:11-13 - Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Gain is NOT proof of Godliness - I Timothy 6:5b - ...supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Gain is 'proof' to the modern American Christian... Success, fame, fortune, etc. all of which won't last but less than a vapour!
I Timothy 6:6 - But godliness with contentment is great gain.

But even at that, remember, God still takes care of us through it all!

Romans 8:26-28 - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

3. Romans 8:33 - Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?

No one!
It is God that justifieth. vs 33b

Romans 4:5 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 3:24 - Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:28 - Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 5:9 - Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Galatians 2:16 - Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Titus 3:7 - That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

4. Romans 8:34 - Who is he that condemneth?

There is no law the devil can use to condemn us

Read Romans 5-8 again, if you need to.
We are not condemnable!

official answer: same verse - It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
The lost condemn themselves...

Romans 2:1 - Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

However, keep reading, God doesn't hold them accountable right away still - He will wait... and wait... and wait....
See Romans 2:5 - treasurest up unto thyself wrath - and for us, our works are being stored up for the judgment seat.

Romans 9:22 - What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
No mention of "longsuffering" in the Gospels, though. Interesting, eh!

Paul mentions "longsuffering" in 10 different verses.
"Longsuffering" is mentioned in the Tribulation.
I Peter 3:20; II Peter 3:9; II Peter 3:15

Our escape from condemnation:

Romans 5:16 - And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Romans 5:18 - Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Peace to thyself!

Romans 14:22 - Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

5. Romans 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Answered with a question...

vs 35,36- shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

And followed with a statement of truth...

vs 37 - Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

So we ought to be persuaded...

vs 38-39 - For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
II Timothy 1:12 - I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Eternally secure because of:

The union of the Believer with Christ!

Ephesians 2,3

Eternal life is a free gift -a nd that is without repentance

Romans 11:29 - For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
II Timothy 2:25 - In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

The intercession of Jesus Christ

Romans 8:26,27 - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

We are kept by the power of God

Ephesians 1:19,20 - And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Our security is based on the righteousness of a sinless man, not on our own goodness. We have the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. It isn't ours to lose.

II Timothy 2:13 - If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Eternity is never forgotten - God will gather everything in Christ to Himself someday.

Ephesians 1:10 - That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
