Part II
Sermon points 4-15 + Conclusion
(continued from part I)
Short - 'Hors D'ourve' lessons:
1) How a Seventh Day Adventist explains away Colossians
2:16
-
Colossians 2:16 - Let
no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
-
They have to come up with a ridiculously long attempt at an explanation!
-
Use of Greek, but I wonder which greek he follows?
-
Not KJB - uses many variations of bibles according to what word he wants
to work with!
-
Uses a lot of religious history and writers from various denominations!
-
Full of mixed scholarship lingo!
-
Scholarly circular language skills!
-
Comments based on unproveable assumptions!
-
Complicated mumbo jumbo!
-
Has to 'redefine' the law so that they can come up with their refusall
of what is obviously being said by Paul!
-
He tries to shame the reader for 'thinking such shameful thoughts, etc.
about your God" - He tries to make you feel stupid and shameful!
-
People have no idea what he is saying, but they follow the man and their
denominational teachings, not the bible!
-
Jesus paid it all, but not according to Seventh Day Adventists!
2) Sinning & sins vs sin!
-
When lost, we are dead in our sins!
-
Ephesians 2:1 - And
you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
-
Ephesians 2:5 - Even
when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by
grace ye are saved;)
-
Colossians 2:13 - And
you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath
he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
-
I Peter 2:24 (even in the tribulation,
the same description goes for a lost person!) - Who
his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being
dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed.
-
When saved, we are dead to sin!)
-
Romans 6:2 - (Which
he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
-
Romans 6:7 - For
he that is dead is freed from sin.
-
Romans 6:11 - Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
-
Romans 8:10 shows the need for the
Circumcision of Christ in Colossians 2:11-16!
-
Romans 8:10 -
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit
is life because of righteousness.
-
Colossians 2:11-12 -
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands,
in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of
Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him
through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the
dead.
The Power of God's Grace, continued from part
I
IV. Makes us 'rich!'
-
II Corinthians 8:9 - For
ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet
for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
-
Ephesians 3:8 - Unto
me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that
I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
V. Helps us build for the judgment seat properly and encouraged!
-
I Corinthians 3:10 - According
to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I
have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man
take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
VI. Makes us accepted in the beloved!
-
Ephesians 1:6 - To
the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted
in the beloved.
-
Ephesians 2:13-22
VII. Is our strength!
-
II Timothy 2:1 - Thou
therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
VIII. Makes it possible for us to have our 'conversation' in this
world!
-
II Corinthians 1:12-14 - For
our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity
and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God,
we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge;
and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end; As also ye have acknowledged
us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the
day of the Lord Jesus.
IX. Abounds to good works
-
II Corinthians 9:8 - And
God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having
all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
-
"It covers our 'gludious maximus' as we go through life!
X. Is sufficient for us!
-
II Corinthians 12:9 - And
he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made
perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
XI. Gives God HIS glory!
-
II Corinthians 4:10-18
-
II Thessalonians 1:12 - That
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him,
according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
XII. Gives us everlasting consolation and good hope!
-
II Thessalonians 2:16 - Now
our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved
us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
XIII. Because of God's grace, I am what I am!
-
I Corinthians 15:8-11 - And
last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For
I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle,
because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what
I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured
more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was
with me. Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
-
Philippians 1:6 - Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
XIV. Helps us sing unto God!
-
Colossians 3:16 - Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace
in your hearts to the Lord.
Conclusion!
-
If one does not learn / hear / preach God's grace through Paul, then with
all their desire to stop sinning, etc. by following the law, whether it
be OT or Gospels or Great Commission or Tribulation verses used today,
that person is receiving God's grace IN VAIN!
-
II Corinthians 6:1 - We
then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not
the grace of God in vain.
-
They frustrate the grace of God!
-
Galatians 2:21 -
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law,
then Christ is dead in vain.
-
Not having God's grace that has been made available to everyone, they have
fallen from grace!
-
They can't lose their salvation nor will God 'break' fellowship with them!
-
They don't have the grace yet - so, they have fallen from from what God
has made available to them!
-
Galatians 5:1-4 - Stand
fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be
not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you,
that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify
again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole
law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified
by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Our mouths should minister grace to others!
-
Ephesians 4:29 - Let
no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good
to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
-
II Corinthians 8:7 - Therefore,
as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and
in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace
also.
-
Colossians 4:6 - And
because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your
hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and we try to apply the 'TO!"
