Another Sermon for the Starving Bible Believing Christians All Over the World Wide Web
2005 - Touchet Baptist Church, Touchet, Washington - Pastor Mike Paulson - 2005
Learning the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:

Rightly Dividing I II Peter

This is a basic outline to the audio sermon with the introduction and chapter one.

We know where Hebrews, I, II, & III John, Jude, Revelation, Acts and the Gospels fit in with rightly dividing - but what about I & II Peter?

This is a different message than the message Peter had in Acts 2.

Peter was corrected by God - Acts 10:28
Peter was corrected by Paul - Galatians 2:11-14
Peter supported Paul's gospel - II Peter 3:14-16

I Peter 1:1 says it is written TO: the scattered Jews.  see Acts 8:1; 11;19 and James 1:1 -

I & II Peter is written FOR us, but not TO!

I & II Peter is written to saved Jews and anyone else willing to be 'saved' according to the Tribulation salvation IN the Tribulation.  It is about suffering, and thus we can still read I II Peter and use it to help us 'suffer' today, although the direct application one finds in I II Peter will not be applied to us directly - such as losing salvation, etc.

They have tasted the Lord, but...
Acts 2:1-21; Hebrews 6:4.

They MUST suffer - it is the tribulation!
Proverbs 1:24-33 - but take special note of verse 33.  The Lord will still carry them, but it will be based on their faith AND walk, not just faith, as it is today.

Peter does not fit with Paul's gospel, but we can still learn from their suffering teachings.

We should know by now that we are to follow Paul's gospel today:
Philippians 4:9
I Thessalonians 4:1
II Timothy 2:7; 4:17
I Timothy 1:15,16
I Corinthians 3:10; 4:16; 11:1,2

Paul will not only see us saved, he will show us that the word of God will deliver us from:
a) law of sin - Romans 7:6,7
b) the body of this death - Romans 7:24
c) frustrations and tribulations of daily life - II Corinthians 1:8-10
d) ourselves so the life of Jesus would be made manifest in our mortal flesh  -  II Corinthians 4:5-11
e) present evil world - Galatians 1:4
f) power of darkness - Colossians 1:13
g) wrath to come - I Thessalonians 1:10
h) unreasonable and wicked men - II Thessalonians 3:2

So, if you choose to seek more than just salvation deliverance through the Word of God, the Holy Bible, the King James Bible, you will suffer today!
II Timothy 3:12: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
and more...
Philippians 1:29
Philippians 3:8,10
Philippians 4:12
Colossians 1:1
II Timothy 1:12; 2:12; 3:12!

This is why folks get so mad & frustrated at someone
wanting to actually 'change' their lives after they are saved,
not just live the same way they have with the same dress, music, mouth, walk, etc.

They want to be delivered!

So, as Peter prepared the Jews to suffer through the tribulation,
we can still learn about suffering ourselves!

And there is so much more to come from rightly dividing Peter!
Stay with us here in Touchet!

This stuff isn't radical, it is just right!
