Paul
- A Persuader
Not a Crusader |
PERSUADE
1. To influence by argument,
advice, intreaty or expostulation; to draw or incline the will to a determination
by presenting motives to the mind.
2. To convince by argument,
or reasons offered; or to convince by reasons suggested by reflection or
deliberation, or by evidence presented in any manner to the mind.
CRUSADE
1. Any of the military expeditions
undertaken by European Christians in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries
to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims.
2. A holy war undertaken with papal
sanction.
3. A vigorous concerted movement
for a cause or against an abuse.
-
The spirit of antichrist is trying to
get the 'army' together - he is on a Great Commission Crusade today. Revelation
16
-
The antichrist is coming to conquer
(Revelation 6) - so he is getting that
false concept through to Christianity in that Great Commission crowd instead
of the correct coming of the real Jesus Christ as is detailed in Revelation
19.
We need to persuade
our friends and family, etc. to the truth of the King James Bible, rightly
divided, read and believed!
Not crusade them - not strive with
them - not fight them - not attack them - not preach at them, etc.
Persuade them!
After all, it is the gospel of your
salvation!
Ephesians
1:13
Can you?
If you say
you truly believe this KJB, can you not offer an ...argument, advice,
expostulation to draw or incline the will to a determination by presenting
motives to the mind?
Attempt
to Persuade others?
Have you tried
to actually 'persuade' others? or do you just drop a verse or two,
hope they see something in you - but can't persuade them?
Note to
Great Commission and modern Christians: Get off your personal prideful
'Jesus Gospel Crusade' and learn about how to persuade others about the
risen Christ through Paul's Epistles!
Are
you yourself persuaded?
Paul - our example
to follow!
I. He persuaded
others!
-
Acts 18:1-6
- Jews and Greeks
-
1-4 -
Persuaded Aquila and Priscilla
-
5-6 -
on to the Gentiles
-
7-8
- on to Justus and Crispus
-
9,10 -
The Lord tells Paul to speak, and hold not
thy peace: for I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee:
for I have much people in this city.
-
11
- was there a year and 1/2
-
Acts 19:23-28
- He persuaded "much people" so that his persuasion hurt the prosperity
of the false god / 'religious bookstore' & craft people!
-
26 -
much people throughout all Asia
-
26b - 28 -
affected
the business of selling false god crafts, though
-
26 - ...saying
that they be no gods, which are made with hands.
See Acts 17:24-26
-
Acts 26:1-29
- King Agrippa - ALMOST
-
28-30
- King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets?
I know that thou believest. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou
persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not
only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether
such as I am, except these bonds.
II.
He Himself Was Persuaded!
-
Not lose salvation
- closeness with God, etc.
-
Romans 8:38,39
- For I am persuaded, that neither...
-
Eternal Security
an issue for you yet?
-
Believe it but
don't have the Scriptures down for confidence and assurance?
-
Still wonder about
'sin' - 'sin in us' - 'forgiveness' - 'repentance' - 'imputation' - 'the
law' - 'being dead to the law' - 'spiritual circumcision,' etc. all the
doctrines that would involve your salvation?
-
There is nothing
unclean of itself!
-
Romans 14:14
- I know, and am persuaded by the Lord
Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth
any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
-
Read all 14:14-20
-
Pushing our beliefs on others. Pushing offensively or persuading?
-
Can we destroy
others with our 'no Christmas' stand in our home but push it into theirs?
-
We have our home
standards, etc. but do we push them on to others in their home?
-
How about our
personal music demands in their cars, etc.? etc.
-
Our TV and video
standards, etc.
-
How about 'your'
modesty stand vs others (If they even have one, these days...).
-
Don't make others
do yours and don't get mad at those who have their standards differently'
than yours!
-
14:13 -
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather,
that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's
way.
-
Will it cause
your own family to stumble - your wife, your children, etc.
-
Then you must
withdraw thyself, from such, turn away, etc. IF IT WILL!
-
14:16 -Let
not then your good be evil spoken of;
-
Don't kill others
with your liberty or Christianity as it has grown to what it has!
-
must edify
-
must not cause
one to stumble
-
must not be used
for an occasion to the flesh
-
It is dealing
with 'doubtful' things, anyway! See
verse 23 - And
he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for
whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
-
Romans 14:1
- Him that is weak in the faith receive
ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
-
Time and experience
and reading help in this area!
-
Sometimes our
zeal can hurt others!
-
Able to keep
that which I have committed unto him!
-
II Timothy
1:12 - For
the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed:
for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep
that which I have committed unto him against that day.
-
I don't see the
'commitment' being mentioned here being salvation!
-
We don't commit
ourselves to Jesus Christ.
-
That is a modern
Christian statement - no scriptural backing!
-
Is it the works
that we do for him - that we commit to him? I
Corinthians 3 - judgment Seat.
-
Remember, Paul
is the masterbuilder, etc.
-
verses 13-14
- Hold fast the form of sound words, which
thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That
good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth
in us.
-
Is it faith? -
vs
5
-
Is it the gift
of God? - vs 6
-
Is it the spirit
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind? - vs
7
-
Is it 'his own
purpose' for us? - vs 9
-
Is it grace? vs
9
-
Is this referring
to God's word being committed to him to be manifested through preaching?
Titus 1:3
-
Is our testimony and profession good
enough to persuade others?
-
II Timothy
1:5 - When I call to remembrance the unfeigned
faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy
mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
-
Unfeigned faith!
-
Not feigned; not
counterfeit; not hypocritical; real; sincere
-
A faith that you
keep whether you are in 'your element' or not!
-
Parents - Please
don't test your boys with it until they are ready!
-
Parents -
NEVER send your girls out for that test - they are deceivable & war
is not their calling!
-
They have their
role and it is in the home, whether it be dad's or their husband's!
-
They are to be
protected by a father or a husband!
-
Is your faith
based on your upbringing - old nature - religion - rebellion, etc.?
-
Based on KJB,
1611, Rightly Divided!
III.
Is Paul correct about us?
-
Romans 15:14
- And I myself also am persuaded of
you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge,
able also to admonish one another.
-
This is what he
thought about others? Do any of these fit us? or you?
-

Conclusion
Are we fully persuaded
in our own mind?
One
man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike.
Let
every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Romans
14:5

Holidays - Sunday - Birthdays - Biblical
examples applied physically still today, etc.
-
any questions? doubts? wrath?
-
(doubtful men - see I
Timothy 2:8 - I will therefore that men
pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.)

Read all of Romans

So
then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
