Why wouldn't there be - note the verses following the grossly over-used phrase, "Great Commission."   Mark 16:16-18

But there is more - FAR more - when one pays attention to the Book of Acts and notices all the 'taste of modern-day Pentecostalism' within.  Unfortunately, we see these things more and more in our own BB churches as we get further and further away from the final authority of our King James Bible that used to be preached in these KJBOnly pulpits!

Warning: False Teachers, wolves, false teachings, another Christ, another Spirit, another gospel, II Corinthians 11:2 - For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Before we look at the specific verses that more and more folks claim the action of...

I.  We can see a purpose behind the order of the Books of the NT
    - even in the whole Bible.

II.  We can also learn from 'when' these books were written!
    The actual dates are mostly 'guesses' by the scholars, so this is not scholarly 'final truth' piece on the dates, etc., but the order written is available from within the Scriptures themselves.

A.  Gospels- obviously first, although John was written quite a bit later - along with I II III John and Revelation.  Approx. AD 90-96.
Jude, Peter's and James were written in the approx. A.D. 60-67 zone - thus the Jewish flavour within those as well as Gentile stuff, and that also helps understand their placement in the King James Bible - written in the early times but placed towards the end where the Tribulation comes into play.

B.  Paul's Epistles

• To churches first - Romans to II Thessalonians
• Then to individuals - I Timothy to Philemon
• Longer to shorter

Galatians - soon after Acts 14:27 - written from Rome

I & Thessalonians - Acts 18 - written from Athens

I Corinthians - Acts 19 - written from Philippi by Stephanas, and Fortunatus and Achaicus and Timotheus.

II Corinthians - Acts 20 - written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas.

Romans - Acts 20 - written from Corinthus and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.

• Ephesians - written from Rome unto the Ephesians by Tychicus.
• Philippians - written to the Philippians from Rome by Epaphroditus
• Colossians - written from Rome to the Colossians by Tychicus and Onesimus
• Philemon - written from Rome to Philemon by Onesimus, a servant.

•  I Timothy & Titus
• In prison again for II Timothy

Signs and wonders through and through in Acts - even WITH Gentiles so Jews would see - UNTIL Paul goes to prison.

Imitate or Follow?
If we try to IMITATE Paul, as the modern versions say we should do, then yes, the Pentecostals do all the right things!

Vain Babblings - overthrow the faith of some!
However, that is all just vain babblings - and it really is exactly that.
(real tongues is not today's modern babble, anyway - see Acts 2:5-11)

II Timothy 2:15-18 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.  And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
I Timothy 6:20-21 - O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Others
But others too - all coming together with pentecostal flavouring (& music) - ALPHA; Purpose Driven; Promise Keepers, Creeks, etc. emphasis on 'Spirit of God' in one's life, with LESS and LESS on the Book - in fact, today, there is NO Bible in the picture.  It is whatever you want...

Getting ahead with the Spirit of God as being the final authority!
Hebrews 8:10 - For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Hebrews 10:16 - This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
as well as complete understanding of II Peter 1:19 - We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

We shouldn't be surprised, though!
Acts 20:28-32 - Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.  For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.  Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.  Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
II Thessalonians 3:6 - Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
I John 2:19 - They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
II Corinthians 2:11 - Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Unfortunately:
Folks don't know it! (Revelation 3)
Folks don't want it! (I Timothy 4:1,2; II Timothy 4:3,4)
Folks don't want to know it!  (II Peter 3:5 - For this they willingly are ignorant of...)

But because we have HIS armour, people must figure that we must not have to do anything on our part but pray!
Paul brings it home with "the walk!" - It is no wonder pastors don't preach this stuff - it goes against their 'heart' - their 'feelings!'  Selfish!

Pastor disguise it! (Jeremiah, Matthew, Acts 2, etc.)
Kids don't want it!  (Romans 12:1,2)
The workplace won't allow it!
The home suffers because of it these days!
Today's BB church does not prepare folks for war anymore - let alone help you through it!
