By the way, the only other verse in the NT that mentions being a peculiar people is I Peter 2:9,10 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

• It is directed TO the time during the tribulation.
• a chosen generation is the Jews, not the Gentiles
• A royal priesthood are the Jews
• an holy nation - Jews
• a peculiar people - Jews

• in time past were not a people - the Jews were not until Abraham, etc.
• But a Jew is certainly willing to be that peculiar people after all their tribulation over the years past - and yet to come, etc. - yet they are still willing to be zealous towards good works.

Define "peculiar"
[L. peculiaris, from peculium, one's own property, from pecus, cattle.]
1.  Appropriate; belonging to a person and to him only.
2.  Singular; particular.
3.  Particular; special.
4.  Belonging to a nation, system or other thing, and not to others.

We belong to God - why do we fight what He would have us be?

It was Christ that did it all for us today.

• Christ told those in the times of the Gospel to do certain things to follow Him.
• Us?  He did it all for us.

• But few are aware of that.
• We should also be peculiar on the outside.

• Be zealous about dressing modestly, being quiet, etc.
• Be zealous about making those changes in your life, etc.

• 1) Forces a true witness
• 2) Makes one be a good example instead of a bad example.
• It is easier to be a bad example than a good one.
• 3) Beats the flesh (vs mind, not the Spirit)
• 4) More than talk
• anyone can talk Paul!
• 5) Addicted to grace
• grace abusers
• 6) be alone in your battles
• This is why the brethren need to grow in love towards one another!
• This is why the brethren are not to judge or put one at naught - Romans 14
• 7) We don't get vexed!
• (all old testament doctrine).
• Our soul is now cleansed!
• Our spirit is now HIS Holy Spirit in us.
• Flesh?  not vexed, it is still dirty - but those 'rewards' come later at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
