What DOES Paul Preach to Timothy Then to Us?

having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Benefits from Following Paul Physically - the 'Walk.'

Continuing on the benefits of following Paul,
with emphasis, of course, on the physical walk found in I, II Timothy and Titus!

III. An opportunity to live a life of approval from God!

I say "opportunity" because we still must rightly divide and make those changes in our lives!

just like the lie of "God loves everyone."

The truth is God LOVED everyone - He offered His love TOWARD everyone.
They must: be told, hear, believe and trust, or they don't have God's love!

Our joy is NOT based on our walk - HIS pleasure is based on our walk!

Ephesians 1:9 - Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Philippians 2:13 - For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
II Thessalonians 1:11 - Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

Christ made it so now we ARE able to please God!

Romans 8:1-14

especially 8-11- So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

So we can learn to please God!

II Timothy 2:15,16 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
Galatians 1:10 - For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Ephesians 6:6 - Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
I Thessalonians 4:1 - Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
I Thessalonians 5:21 - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Do you even have that desire to learn please God instead of yourself?

Galatians 4:9 - But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Ephesians 4:14 - That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Ephesians 2:3 - Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

IV. We would have an assurance in following the right divine orders given TO US!

Sure, these are orders given to Timothy from Paul...

but yet the Lord is still trusting that these orders would be committed to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

we would be learning to follow the correct orders to us, not someone's (i.e. - wrongly dividing pastor) own philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ - Colossians 2:8.
here are just a few of Paul's "orders" - (I told you that they still exist in Paul's teachings!)

I Thessalonians 4:13 - And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
II Timothy 1:13 - Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
II Timothy 2:1 - Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
II Timothy 2:22 - Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

II Timothy 2:23 - But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

II Timothy 3:14 - But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
II Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
II Timothy 4:5 - But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
Titus 2:15 - These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. (be sure to take personal note of what those 'things' are)

V. You will have eternal gain!

I Timothy 6:6-8 - But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Colossians 3:24 - Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
