Benefits from Following Paul
For
bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all
things,
having
promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
This
is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
I Timothy
4:8,9
-
I Timothy 2:2
- For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and
honesty.
-
I Timothy 4:7
- But refuse profane and old wives' fables,
and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
(exercise is never easy!)
-
I Timothy 6:3-5
- If any man teach otherwise, and consent
not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to
the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing
nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh
envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men
of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness:
from such withdraw thyself.
-
I Timothy 6:6
-
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
-
This godliness
must come from Paul, not the gospels!
-
I Corinthians
4:17 - For this cause have I sent unto
you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall
bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as
I teach every where in every church.
-
Romans 2:16
- In the day when God shall judge the secrets
of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
-
Romans 16:25
- Now to him that is of power to stablish
you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since
the world began,
Is this "Pastoral Suicide Series"
necessary?
-
Ok, is this stuff from Timothy and Titus
practical today?
-
Does anyone really seek any change in
their life? Both lost and/or saved!
-
Does anyone just expect others, including
God, to always love them for what they are - with little or no changes
EVER!
-
And in these days, are these things
even do-able?
-
Can't we just be satisfied learning
about all that Christ did for and to us?
-
Is there any great gain staying the
way we are mentally - spiritually - AND physically?
Oh yes, it has been great!
-
Yes, it has been a great time getting
rid of some of our traditions and commandments of men - and learning all
that rightly dividing has taught us about truth and the RISEN Christ!
-
And yes, we will continue to learn more
and teach folks things that we have learned!
-
It sure has been good being able to
locate the evil - the tricks - the devices of Satan - the details of all
that is wrong out there in 'religion' and 'denomination' land.
-
It is great knowing more about the issues
of the day as compared to the rightly divided Scriptures - the events in
the world / America, etc. the direction things are going - and to still
have that peace that passeth all understanding as life continues to fall
apart in America and in our churches, etc.
But danger still lurks!
-
It seems that there are more and more
of those folks who depart from the faith, err
from the faith; fall into temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown
men in destruction and perdition.
-
There are more and more of those who
continue / or begin to pierce themselves through
with many sorrows because of their
love for money.
-
There are those who continue to give
heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils,
they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears;
-
More and more are being
led away with divers lusts. (Bad and good lusts -
are still lusts - and they control your life and family)
-
There are those people
with a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof
- in fact, there are even those who know of those kinds of folks and yet
won't 'from such turn away'
either.
-
Friends and Family, eh!
In a previous
sermon series, we have seen the possible results of NOT following Paul.
Now, and before we get into this
pastoral suicide sermon series,
the details of the 'do's that
Paul taught to Timothy and Titus to teach to us...
(you CAN read them for yourself,
of course),
let's consider what the Scriptures
say the results of DOING Paul's ways could be.
Let's first remember this:
-
The way of Paul is NOT the so-called
American Way!
-
The way of the Risen Christ is NOT the
American Way!
-
True Christianity is NOT an American
designed religion or manner of life.
-
America today is NOT the result of true
Christianity - it is the result of some folks who were trusted with the
gospel of God who through wrong division, destroyed a country at least
designed on Godly principles and on the liberty of Christ.
-
So just being the successful American
does not mean you have arrived at true Christianity.
-
Christianity today IS the result of
today's America!
Now,
let's see some of the benefits to
"Following Paul"
and "Doing Paul!"
By the way, isn't it
sad that:
-
We can just say Scriptures - we have
to say King James Bible.
-
We can't just say Bible / Scriptures
/ King James Bible; we have to say a rightly divided Bible / Scriptures.
-
We can't just say Christian - we have
to qualify it to a rightly divided, beyond Paul following, That Which is
Perfect has come King James Bible Believing Christian.
-
We can't just say we try to follow Jesus
- but that we follow Jesus as He taught to the Gentiles through our apostle
Paul!
-
Don't be afraid or ashamed to make yourself
clear about being a 'real' Christian when you need to! Don't brag
it or push it - especially if your testimony is not a good one!!!!
Anyway:
There
are benefits that are "there to be had!"
-
I Timothy 4:8,9
- For bodily exercise profiteth little:
but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the
life that now is, and of that which is to come. This
is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
-
I Thessalonians
4:4 - That every one of you should know
how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
-
II Timothy
3:10 - But thou hast fully known
my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
-
II Timothy
4:17 - Notwithstanding the Lord stood with
me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known,
and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of
the mouth of the lion.
-
Titus 3:14
- And let ours also learn to maintain
good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
-
II Timothy
1:7,8 - For God hath not given us the spirit
of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou
therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner:..
-
II Thessalonians
1:5b - ... that ye may be counted worthy
of the kingdom of God,...
I. A
Better Profession of faith!
-
II Timothy
4:17 - Notwithstanding the Lord
stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully
known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of
the mouth of the lion.
-
I Timothy 6:12
- Fight the good fight of faith,
lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed
a good profession before many witnesses.
-
I Timothy 4:15
- Meditate upon these things; give thyself
wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
-
Philemon 1:6
- That the communication of thy faith may
become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you
in Christ Jesus.
-
I Thessalonians
1:8-10 For from you sounded
out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in
every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not
to speak any thing. For they themselves shew of us what manner of
entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve
the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom
he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath
to come.
II. Confidence in having the
God of peace!
-
Philippians
4:9 - Those things, which ye have both
learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace
shall be with you.
-
Not another Jesus, etc.
-
Galatians 1:9
- As we said before, so say I now again,
If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received,
let him be accursed.
-
II Corinthians
11:4 - For if he that cometh preacheth
another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit,
which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted,
ye might well bear with him.
III. Experience the fruit of
righteousness!
-
Philippians
1:11 - Being filled with the fruits of
righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of
God.
-
There are always bad apples on every
fruit tree, but they are there - they DO exist as part of the basket!
-
suffer persecution - II
Timothy 3:12-14 - Yea, and all that will
live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers
shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue
thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing
of whom thou hast learned them;
-
hardness - II
Timothy :2:3 - Thou therefore endure hardness,
as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. II
Timothy 2:10 -Therefore I endure all things
for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is
in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
-
affliction -II
Timothy 1:8 - Be not thou therefore ashamed
of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker
of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; II
Timothy 4:5 - But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the
work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
-
called the enemy - Galatians
4:16 - Am I therefore become your enemy, because
I tell you the truth?
-
loved less - II
Corinthians 12:15 - And I will very gladly
spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the
less I be loved.
-
suffer reproach -I
Timothy 4:10 - For therefore we both labour
and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour
of all men, specially of those that believe.
-
And of course,
there is good fruit? keep reading and listening to this sermon!
IV. Love His appearing!
-
II Timothy
4:6-8 - For I am now ready to be offered,
and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I
have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there
is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them
also that love his appearing.
More fruits of
righteousness to come in the next sermon!
