Well, we had better take some time and learn them, amen?

Part I Audio Sermon - December 12 SS class


1.   Romans 6:3,4  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ... keep reading...  This entire chapter is a "must know" chapter!  Concerning this baptism, also see Galatians 3:27; Ephesians 4:5,6; I Corinthians 12:13

Notice the continual thinking words in this chapter:  then, therefore, for if, knowing this, henceforth, now, knowing, likewise, what thenChapter 6 reads like one specific thing that we must know!


2.  Romans 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
But we don't HAVE to obey sin now - we only choose to now.  See 17-23. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed?  Why do we still do them when we don't HAVE to?

3.   Romans 7:1  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
So, we needed to die, and die we did - with Christ!  See 7:4; 6:7; etc.  So what about the 'law' now?  It is no longer our schoolmaster - Galatians 3:24-27 but we now establish the law - we just don't use it as our righteousness. Romans 3:31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.  Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

4.   I Corinthians 3:16,17  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

See also I Corinthians 6:15-20  Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.   But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.  Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Also see II Corinthians 6:14-19  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.


5. I Corinthians 5:6  Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?  (Also in Galatians 5:9 - doctrine)
There is some puffing up going on in verse 2 concerning their attitudes towards a fornicator, a coveter, an idolater, a railer, a drunkard, an extortioner concerning a 'brother' versus a lost person.  Note the last verse - Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person - that being a 'brother!'   God will take care of the lost world.

However, be sure to read the entire chapter to get the complete gist of this chapter.  This chapter is a tough one in these modern times!  The local church is sure in a mess.  Church discipline in one area must be also covered in others, too.   Be sure to keep in mind Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Audio Sermon - Conclusion - December 19 - SS class

1.  I Corinthians 6:2,3  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Difficulties among the brethren!
You don't know this?  Not many do, eh!  The context here is 'suing a brother!'  If we can't take care of matters ourselves now, the world uses that as judgment against us and the truth!  Again, the context MUST be read in order to get the complete understanding.  Read verses 1-8.

Remember, we will have the Word of God even more than we do today.  Today, we have it in print; then we will have within as we will be like Christ!  During those days in the Millennium, it is the Jews that will have the laws of the new covenant put into their mind and heart.  Hebrews 8:10;10:16.

By the way, judging angels... some thoughts:

And the point being made here is...?  If we can judge angels with Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment, why can't we judge matters between ourselves here on earth now with the written words of Christ?  ...How much more things that pertain to this life?  We have Him now, we have His words now, we have His JUDGING words now - in that King James Bible.  Stick TO / IN the Book and matters on earth will be 'nothing!'  Romans 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Colossians 3:2-4Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

To Our Shame
Paul says it is such a shame that this situation even exists among the brethren!  If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.  I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?  verses 4,5


2.  I Corinthians 6:9,10; 11,12  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ...

The key word here is 'unrighteous!'  As a saved person - a Christian - a Bible Believer, etc. we are actually considered righteous in God's eyes.

Romans 4:5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
II Corinthians 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Romans 10:3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Philippians 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Christ has taken care of the righteousness situation!
Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Galatians 2:21  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
With us today, the law is to be established in our walk as a testimony of our love toward God, the law is not just made void!  It is just no longer a judge of righteousness.  Christ took care of that - so HE is the basis of righteousness; it must be HIS righteousness through Him by HIS faith, according to Paul's gospel.

So, as we are actually considered righteous through Jesus Christ by our faith in Christ, we DO inherit the Kingdom of God!
Romans 8:16,17  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

What is the kingdom of God, by the way?  Romans 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

P.S.  These verses are describing people, not acts.  It is the person we are concerned about here and even if we 'did' any of those things, WE are not at issue here, just the works, and they will burn as wood, hay, and stubble... but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Do you have the Kingdom of God?  see Ephesians 1:13 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.  So far, we only have received an earnest amount!


3. I Corinthians 9:24  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

I Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Philippians 2:16  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Use wisdom in that race!
I Corinthians 9:25-27  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Galatians 2:2   And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. (read the context for more 'detail' of this situation)

Made free, soon to be set free!
Hebrews 12:1 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us...  For now, that is not TO us - it will be TO the folks in the Millennium.  But still, isn't it great that sin has been set aside already through spiritual circumcision thus making us free from sin?

John 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Romans 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:22  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Romans 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

But we do still keep battling it, eh!  Romans 7 - but some day, it will truly and finally be SET aside!


Get it all settled!
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.
Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
II Corinthians 13:5

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed:
for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep
that which I have committed unto him against that day.
