Paul is Our Example to Follow!
Acts 14

Acts 14:1-7
Still preaching in the synagogues - now to Jews AND Greeks, too - and many did believe!  Amen!

But... here we go... verse 2 - boy, the Jews even managed to stir up the Gentiles this time.  They made their minds evil affected against the brethren!  This is the kind of stuff that is an abomination to the LORD!  ...he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16

Paul's response?  speaking boldly IN the Lord - gave testimony unto the word of his grace - AND get this... granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

But even at that, the multitude of the city was divided - some with the Jews and some with Paul, etc.

In fact, an assault was even made towards Paul - a stoning was in the works!

But they fled unto Lycaonia - and continued to just preach the gospel!

Acts 14:7-19
A cripple gets healed - and here is where the Pentecostals come up with their statement that the reason we are not all healed is because we lack faith!  See verse 9.

Unfortunately, after this miracle, the folks tried to worship Paul and Barnabas!

Paul and Barnabas pleaded their case against the folks and tried to put the glory onto the living God - but they didn't get anywhere - the people (with the normal encouragement from the Jews from Antioch and Iconium, they stoned Paul.  Was he dead?

It appears that he was, because this may be the time that he talks about that person who visits the third heaven.  II Corinthians 12:2-4   I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.  And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)  How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Acts 14:20
But what a site - Paul arose and went into the city.

Then on to Derbe with Barnabas.

Acts 14:21-23
- but when they finished preaching and had taught many, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch.  Hmmm, he returned to places who didn't like him, but he had 'family' there to keep encouraged.  See verse 22.

Verse 23 is also where we get our ordination services, etc.

Acts 14:24-26
Onward from Pisidia to Pamphylia, to Perga, and to Attalia, and then to Antioch again, from where it all started.

Acts 14:27,28 - Great testimony time, I figure - a long one, too!
