More from Paul on "Sin"
"That Which Will Burn" According to Paul in Corinthians

We Are to Work Out Our Salvation
And what a workout it is these days!
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Philippians 2:12

See Part I for the Introduction.

Now, on to what Paul says about the things that we do 'wrong'
but yet knowing we can't call this stuff sin!
(note that it is just that sin within, it is not us!)

We should do things that makes us acceptable and approved unto God, amen?

II Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  Shew it means people will see it - the walk!

II Corinthians 10:18  For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

Romans 12:1,2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.   And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  Prove it in in your talk AND in your walk!

Ephesians 5:8-11  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  This will be done literally in the Millennium and beyond, (see Psalms and the word 'light') but for now, our daily walk is what is being challenged here, to walk the LIGHT OF THE BOOK!  Psalm 119:105, 130

This is What Won't Go Away Until It Burns!
The following verses show what will burn during our Judgment Seat of Christ.
(a personal study of this list will show you what NOT to do as a Christian!)

Now if any man build upon this foundation
gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire;
and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved;
yet so as by fire.
I Corinthians 3:12-15

Romans 7:6 oldness of the letter - living a walk in this manner will just add fuel to your judgment seat fire!
Romans 14:10 Why judge the brethren?  Calling something 'sin' is passing judgment, isn't it?  Let God judge our work at the Judgment Seat - let the preacher preach the Word and let the Holy Spirit convict a Christian of doing 'wrong!'  Maybe they are just hearing about it the first time... etc.
Galatians 6:1; I Corinthians 6:7; James 5:16; I Peter 2:20 Our 'bad' works are not called sin, they are called faults.
Jude 1:24 we are presented 'faultless' before the presence of his glory... but it makes sense that that this must be AFTER our judgment at the Judgment Seat of Christ.  Our sins are already taken care of, amen?  Amen!
Revelation 14:5 144,000 presented without fault before the throne - but that must also be AFTER the judgment at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Romans 6:12,17 we were obeying sin, but now we obey a doctrine that makes us now free from that sin!
Romans 6:13 it is all about who we 'yielded' to in the past and who we yield to today as a Christian - we used to HAVE to yield our members as instruments of unrighteousness "unto sin" - but now as sin is a separate entity within us, sin is only "in" us but no longer 'on' us - nor does it yield us "unto sin" anymore.  Even if we 'yield' as instruments of unrighteousness, it is not imputed to us nor does that 'work' lead us "unto sin."  Sin has been judged, but our works are yet to be judged!
Romans 7:25 our mind serves the law of God (with liberty and rightly dividing) but our flesh serves the law of sin.  Thus the reason Christ had to do the operation made without hands - but now we see the reason for the daily battle...
Romans 8:34 Christ maketh intercession for us - it is Christ that died and is risen again... why the need for confession of I John 1:9 - so we can be forgiven 'again?'
Romans 13:4 this is not God's wrath that we need to fear, it is the wrath of local authority, etc.
Romans 14:1 weak in the faith - is it 'sin' or is someone just unlearned and in their early stages of Christian growth and they just don't know better...
Romans 16:17 divisions (I Corinthians 1:10) and offenses - contentions - maybe that is something you get caught up into - it will just burn in your judgment.
I Corinthians 3:1 Carnal
I Corinthians 3:12 wood hay stubble...
I Corinthians 6:8 Why defraud the brethren?  It is 'doing wrong!'
I Corinthians 6:9-11 works of unrighteousness listed: fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, abusers of themselves with mankind, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners - but it all has to do with inheriting the kingdom of God, nothing to do with one's salvation!  Remember Christ's two-fold purpose?  John 6:40 - salvation; John 6:39, eternal inheritance. Raise "HIM" and raise "IT" up again at the last day.

Now in verse 11, we see that we ARE washed, sanctified, and justified...

I Corinthians 6:12 being brought under the power of something - THAT is wrong, but it is not a sin!  It just isn't expedient!
I Corinthians 7:28 remarried?  it isn't the best thing to do, but if you do, it is not a sin.  But you WILL bring some baggage with you!  You will have trouble in the flesh!
I Corinthians 8:9 become a stumbling block to someone - makes some to 'offend' - or be 'offended'  (It says we sin against the brethren and against Christ...???) so the sin does take place, but we can't forget that sin dwelleth within and if we do those things against the brethren, then we are yielding to sin again.  Shame on us!
I Corinthians 10:6 lust after evil things
I Corinthians 7-10-14 neither be idolaters - don't just sit down to eat & drink, then rise up to play!

commit fornication, tempt Christ... ensamples for our admonition...  flee from these things - God has given us an escape...

Remember, this has all to do with inheritance!  We can fall from standing (vs 12) but not fall out of salvation!

I Corinthians 10:23 doing things NOT expedient
doing things that do NOT edify (you only edify yourself, not the church - I Cor 14:4,12)
I Corinthians 10:29,20 we can still be evil spoken of when we do things not expedient or to edify ourselves only.
I Corinthians 11:4,5 we can dishonour our testimony
I Corinthians 11:22 we could be despising the church of God and shaming others... Lords' Supper context
I Corinthians 12:1 being ignorant of spiritual gifts - being carried away unto dumb idols - your work will burn
I Corinthians 12:25 maybe we are causing schism in the body...  your perceived good work will only burn!
I Corinthians 13:1,2 are you becoming as sounding brass & a tinkling cymbal?  It could all just burn!
I Corinthians 13:3 a life of 'good' that could be still profiteth you nothing!
I Corinthians 13:4 doing right wrong can only puff you up - then it would just burn!
I Corinthians 14:11 acting like a barbarian or being treated like one - by messing around with 'voices.'
I Corinthians 14:14 here is how you have an unfruitful understanding - see II Cor 9:10 for how to increase your fruit
I Corinthians 14:20 acting like children in understanding instead of men (in malice, just be like children)
I Corinthians 14:38 Being ignorant - ignorance is no excuse anymore (I Timothy 1:12,13)
I Corinthians 15:34 unsaved are not awakened to righteousness - they sin.  They won't know unless we tell them. But us?  Now, we need to come to an awareness of our righteousness and HIS righteousness and where sin enters into the picture.  It doesn't, other than sin that dwelleth within causes us to mess with our righteousness.
I Corinthians 15:58 this is how to have your labour be in vain - how to get it ready to burn!  Don't do the labor for the Lord - do it for yourself! "... of what sort it is..."
I Corinthians 16:13 again, not being what a man should be here in these areas - watching, standing fast in the faith, being strong!
I Corinthians 16:17 we all have areas lacking on our part - do we help others in that area?
I Corinthians 16:18 are you getting stale?  Is some one else getting stale?  Can you help?  If some one has helped you, acknowledge them - it is a blessing to know that God has used you for a blessing, so tell someone.  How else would they know if their labour was in vain?
II Corinthians 1:6,7 being afflicted for others to gain - and to be a partaker of the suffering - to get out of that can be a work that will just burn.
II Corinthians 1:12 fleshly wisdom will burn!  Psalm 1; I Corinthians 1:20,21; 3:19; James 3:15
II Corinthians 2:10,11 not be forgiving... (don't' apply Matthew here, but still - Paul does tell us to forgive)
II Corinthians 2:13 unrestful spirit
II Corinthians 3:5 being sufficient in ourselves (also see 4:7; 9:8)  Also, Galatians 2:20
II Corinthians 5:2-4 a groaning that has it's rewards if we so try to deal with it - and not just live with it
II Corinthians 5:7 what a waste if we walk by sight, and not by faith!
II Corinthians 5:10 things done in the body.  Our daily walk!  Sin has been dealt with, but our day to day works are yet to have gone through the fire of judgment!  Spiritually, we go out in incorruption, in glory, in power - as a spiritual body.  I Corinthians 15:42-44
II Corinthians 5:19 Doing it God's way will reconcile us to God - and the worlds trespasses will not be imputed to them - their "Lord's Prayer" could be answered if they would just realize the truth of it all - dispensationally!
II Corinthians 6:3 giving offense - maybe we have sent out the wrong message at times...
II Corinthians 6:14 fellowshipping with unrighteousness; communing with darkness, etc see Ephesians 5:11,12
II Corinthians 6:17 not to come out from among them... the fly spoils the ointment!
II Corinthians 7:1 not cleaning ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh and spirit, etc.
II Corinthians 8:8 having an insincere heart
II Corinthians 10:3,4 warring after the flesh causes us to bring out the carnal weapons - see Ephesians 6:12
II Corinthians 10:6 playing with your imaginations - not controlling your thoughts - is it sin?  No, but it can lead to something that 'will burn!'  Bringing your mind into captivity to think about Christ will lead you to victory over the sin that dwelleth within.
II Corinthians 10:7 looking on the outward appearance - Yes, be the outward testimony that you should be, but remember, what is on the outside usually shows who is on the inside!
II Corinthians 10:12-18 measuring ourselves with ourselves, eh?  We are a horrible standard to judge ourselves on!
II Corinthians 11:3,4 minds being corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ... led to another Jesus.  For salvation and/or for false doctrine, etc.
II Corinthians 11:29 are you weak?  no strength?  out of the Book?  lacking prayer? away from God? etc. worn out - doing things in your own strength? Galatians 6:9; Luke 18:1
II Corinthians 12:6 having a desire to glory?
II Corinthians 12:20,21 & 13:1-8 Is it sin because they are lost, is it the sin that dwelleth within?  whatever, it made Paul question their salvation.
