Paul's Preaches to Us...

The Great Commission churches preached and still preach today about baptism, remission and repentance (and that in a very mild sense today).  We certainly do have the modern TV crowd doing the signs and wonders, all by the devil of course (Revelation 16:13,14); we have the mainline denominations now pushing the Great Commission as well - all leading into signs and wonders, too (ALPHA); and now our own Baptists (including KJV) are getting into the picture with their programs, music and buildings, etc. to get folks to come AND respond!

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Luke 3:3  And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
Luke 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts 13:24  When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts 19:4  Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Acts 5:30-32  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.  Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.  And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

People today try to obey the Great Commission teachings of Jesus.  It can't be done!

Paul says it will be different now since he came along - Acts 13:38-41  Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:  And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.  Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;  Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

So today, Paul preaches to us...

These are some of the things Paul preached to folks, thus we should do the same if we are true to following Paul.

Remember, we are to follow Paul - not imitate!!!
I Corinthians 4:16  Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
I Corinthians 11:1  Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Philippians 3:17  Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
II Thessalonians 3:7-9  For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:  Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

And pass it on... II Timothy 2:2-4  Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

1.  Christ is the Son of God - Acts 9:20  And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

2.  Jesus Christ - Romans 16:25,26 - ACCORDING TO THIS MYSTERY AS GIVEN BY PAUL - Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,  But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

3.  Christ among the heathen - Galatians 1:16  To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;  (good advice for today - Matthew 10:16  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.)

4.  Unsearchable riches of Christ - Ephesians 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

5.  Christ Crucified, the power of God, the wisdom of God - I Corinthians 1:23,24  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

6.  Christ needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead, and that this Jesus is Christ - Acts 17:2,3    And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,  Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

7.  The cross - I Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

8.  Jesus and the resurrection - Acts 17:18  Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

9.  The Word of faith - Romans 10:8,9  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Galatians 1:23  But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

10.  The gospel of peace bringing glad tidings of good things!  Romans 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

11.  To live what you preach - I Corinthians 9:14,18,26,27  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.  18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.  26,27  I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:   But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

12.  Not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord - II Corinthians 4:5  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

13.  Not another gospel - II Corinthians 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.  Galatians 1:8,9  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

14.  The Gospel - I Corinthians 1:17  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.  Acts 16:10; Romans 1:15; Galatians 4:13

15.  The hope of the gospel - Colossians 1:23   If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

16.  To turn from vanities unto the Living God - Acts 14:15   And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

17.  The word of the Lord - Acts 15:35  Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.  (and it grew and prevailed - Acts 19:20)

18.  God's word - Titus 1:3  But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

19.  Gospel of God - II Corinthians 11:7   Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?  Acts 20:27  For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

Turn to Acts 20:17-27
17: And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
18: And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
19: Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
20: And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21: Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22: And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
24: But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25: And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26: Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27: For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

20.  Repentance toward God - verse 21 repentance toward God,

21.  Faith toward Jesus Christ - verse 21  faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ

22.  Gospel of the grace of God - verse 24  testify the gospel of the grace of God

23.  The Kingdom of God - verse 25 the kingdom of God

24.  The Counsel of God - verse 27 all the counsel of God

25.  The Goodness of God - Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

26.  Made sorry to repentance ("after a godly manner" which is according to II Timothy 2:25-27, not the new ways today)  II Corinthians 7:9-10  Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

27.  Show us how to receive forgiveness and inheritance  Acts 26:17,18 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

28.  Repent - turn to God - do works meet for repentance Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

29.  Exposed their Unknown God - Acts 17:23-31  For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.  Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you...

Yes, Paul certainly did preach and what he preached about we should be preaching today!
Yes, some of these things were ALSO preached in the Great Commission - but if we take people there to say that, then they get mixed up with the picking and choosing it looks like we are doing.  Rightly Divide the Word and Stick to Paul's preaching!  Don't confuse the folks!

Paul preached salvation AND the walk!
As did Jesus...
John 6:38-40   For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

(remember - we are joint heirs And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:17 )

so did Paul...
Acts 9:16,17; Acts 26:17-18; Acts 28:31; I Corinthians 3:9,10; Galatians 4:4-7; Romans 8:16,17; I Corinthians 1:4-8; Romans 1:11,15; Ephesians 1:16-19; 3:16-19; Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 5:14-17; Colossians 4:12

so should we...

And so should those we teach & preach to...
