Jeremiah's
Words For Us Today
Part V
Chapters
12 - 15
"Good
for nothing" Jews then and "good for nothing" Christians today! Jeremiah
13
Chapter
12
Did you ever
want to ask the Lord 'Why...?"
"Why are things
going the way they are when I am trying to do the correct thing in my life,
while those that hate God, KJB, etc. are seemingly doing so well?"
Jeremiah did
12:1-4 -
Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with
thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper?
wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? Thou hast planted
them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit:
thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins. But thou, O LORD,
knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them
out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for
the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed,
and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
- and got a
good answer!
12:5-17
- read it all and you will see similarities in our 'enemy' today!
You can't even
take it now? Just wait and see what is coming...
12:5: If
thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst
thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou
trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of
Jordan?
The 'brethren'
are not even to be trusted!
12:6: For
even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously
with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not,
though they speak fair words unto thee.
We should be so
thankful for the Dispensation of Grace.
12:7-9 - I
have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly
beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. Mine heritage is unto
me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I
hated it. Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round
about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come
to devour.
Ephesians 3:2
- If
ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me
to you-ward:
This does so fit
pastors today!!!
12:10-11 -
Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard,
they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion
a desolate wilderness. They have made it desolate, and being desolate it
mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth
it to heart.
As the churches
grow with false doctrine at the helm, they 'appear' to prosper, but spiritually,
they are dead - a desolate wilderness. It isn't in their heart -
just their flesh!
It is a spiritual
kingdom / battle, not a physical fleshly kingdom battle.
Romans 14:17 -
kingdom of God!
The physical walk
today is a 'result' of being a Christian, not 'to be' a Christian or to
'receive' God's blessings.
That is all OT
/ Gospel / Tribulation gospel!
God WAs not with
those folks... etc. So, today, those verses speak well of the coming Tribulation.
12:12-17 -
The spoilers are come upon all high places
through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the
one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have
peace. They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves
to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues
because of the fierce anger of the LORD. Thus saith the LORD against all
mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my
people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land,
and pluck out the house of Judah from among them. And it shall come to
pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion
on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every
man to his land. And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn
the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught
my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my
people. But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy
that nation, saith the LORD.
And, for those
who are saved today, we know from Paul that Christ never forsakes us...
whew, eh!!!!!
Do we see more
and more what the Lord took upon Himself on the cross
He took God's
wrath!
He doesn't give
us into the hands of our enemy -
but He does allow
it as it is our choice.
Romans 6:15-23
There is no chastisement
because the only place that is mentioned is in Hebrews and that is TO the
Hebrews during the Tribulation!
We can even know
why God "allows" the 'lost' to prosper and live without His judgment today.
See Romans
2:4,5
Their judgment
is coming, though! Just not now!
We can see from
the Scriptures that God is about done with the Gentile nation today - See
Romans 11:22.
For us as a Gentile
nation, and more specifically 'Church of God' (if you are saved), His
answer to us is very simple and very exciting!
Romans 2:4,5
and 11:22
and I Timothy 6:9,10;
II Timothy 3:10-17; 4:3-4; I Thessalonians
2:14-19; Colossians 2:4,8; Philippians 1:28; 3:17-20; Ephesians 5:6-17;
6:12; Galatians 4:9; 5:1,17; II Corinthians 11:1-4. 13-15; 12:9-10, 15.
Those are good verses for starters, anyway.
We truly have
no need to whine, murmur or even ask God, "Why?" Rightly divided
your KJB and you will never ask God, "Why?"!
Chapter
13
13:1-11 -
'the girdle' lesson
13:10 - This
evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination
of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship
them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Good for nothing
Jews then / good for nothing Christians today from rejecting the very voice
of God through the KJB and Paul!
13:16-19, 20-27
If they miss the
Risen Saviour today, - the God of peace (Philippians
4:9), they have a horrible future upon
this earth!
This is another
good chapter on potential Tribulation details.
they try to cry
then - you ALREADY know why!!!
14:7-10
Chapter
14
14:1-10
It was a miserable
life - and the tribulation will be more miserable than people ever imagined.
Matthew 24:21
-For
then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of
the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
14:11-12 -
Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for
this people for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry;
and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them:
but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
God didn't even hear their prayers!
See Proverbs
1:23-33
Jeremiah's fears for God's people were
lot different than Revelation 3:19-21
- well, for those who finally listen, anyway!
As many
as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the
door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To
him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I
also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
The rest meet their eternal doom after
the Tribulation! Revelation 19
And it will be
horrible again - AFTER the Gentile nation is taken away (those few with
Paul's gospel, anyway!)
Lying preachers
preaching peace then AND today!
14:13,14 -
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold,
the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye
have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the
LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not,
neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto
you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit
of their heart.
Results of following
those deceivers...
14:15-16 -
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning
the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say,
Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those
prophets be consumed. And the people to whom they prophesy shall
be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword;
and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons,
nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them. Therefore
thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night
and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is
broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow. If I go forth into
the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into
the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the
prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
14:20-22
A small confession
does come from some...
We acknowledge,
O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned
against thee. Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the
throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. Are there
any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can
the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God?
therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
Chapter
15
same ole same
ole - good for us today concerning Tribulation, but nothing in Jeremiah
is TO us!!!
I Corinthians
10:11 -Now
all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written
for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Highlighted verses
'for' our use and awareness...
15:6 - Thou
hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will
I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.
It is US that
go backwards today, not God!
Again, we look
to Romans 2:4,5,
etc.
15:16 - Thy
words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy
and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of
hosts.
We have the KJB
to eat -
...and to let
it be a joy and rejoicing of our heart!
15:17-18 -
Still whining - and this is even more
serious - Jeremiah makes a dangerous accusation to God!
I sat not
in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy
hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.
Why is my
pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed?
wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?
God answered Jeremiah
with protection!
15:19-21 -
Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou
return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and
if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth:
let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. And I will make
thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against
thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save
thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. And I will deliver thee out of
the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
What is God's
answer to us over these hard days now and those yet to come before
the Tribulation?
