Have I been reading too much Jeremiah? Nehemiah?

Am I truly the local town Eyore still?

Is it just a personal reaction to farsebook and all the busybody ladies
typing about themselves doing laundry and having tea;
they must actually think their 'former enemies' are now becoming their friend -
but only by ignoring the scriptural differences. (you, not them!)

Am I just a frustrated pastor knowing I couldn't help people out of their snare -
even knowing the Scriptures tell me that people have to get out of their own messes themselves?
See II Timothy 2:24-26

Sure, I suppose so!
However, there are still plenty of other reasons for me to think as I do!

We can't forget that the number one reason is that the Scriptures say it could happen and probably will!

We are told that people WILL NOT endure... so, let's gp with that as our first reason!

II Timothy 4:3,4 - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Paul was even in doubt with others!

Galatians 4:20 - I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
So, looking at Paul's words be looking at us?

Do we need to stand in doubt of ourselves...

...or will we stand in confidence and brace for the coming battles?

People expect us to cave in...

...and our closest ones will go out of their way to make it happen to us to prove we are not sincere.
Galatians 6:12-13 - As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
The conspiracy against Paul still exists today!

Acts 23:12-13 - And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.

Jeremiah's familiars still exist in our lives today!

Jeremiah 20:9,10 - Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
Jeremiah 20:10 - For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

note the word 'for' - verse 10 explains the very reason he wanted to quit from verse 9!

Or to just justify to themselves that if you can't be that Risen Christian, neither do they have to be...

I Timothy 4:15 - Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Or they will see it as failure to be true, not just a mistake!

Philippians 1:28 - And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

If we are not even strong enough now, what does the next year bring?

Jeremiah 12:5 - If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

Daniel tells us the antichrist / Tribulation, etc. will come in with flatteries and peaceably preaching a false peace so we this on the increase and faster!

peaceably - flatteries

Daniel 11:21 - And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

king exalt and magnify himself...

Daniel 12:36 - And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

he is taking us apart already - and has been for a long time!

Daniel 11:37 - Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

Increase in knowledge

Daniel 12:4 - But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Today - "A weeks worth of the New York Times contains more information tan a person was likely to come across in a lifetime in the 18th century!"

"Half of what you learn in your first year of study will be outdated by 3rd year of study!"
"Four exabytes of unique information will be generated this year - that is more than the past 5000 years."

There must be a falling away...

II Thessalonians 2:2,3 - That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
...so either we stand strong until the rapture (Romans 11:22) or we head closer to the Tribulation as losers and watch our Judgment Seat of Christ be very disappointing!.
We will experience 'some' of the losing of:

...voice of joy, voice of gladness, voice of the bridegroom, voice of the bride, voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth forever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. Jeremiah 33:11

Jeremiah 25:10 - ...the voice of mirth; ... the sound of the millstone, and the light of the candle...

Read Hebrews through Jude for Tribulation doctrine being preached more and more from the pulpits who used to preach differently and should know better today!!
Worldly signs are on the increase, too.

Just look around ... but remember, all that Matthew warns about is referring to the last days - during the Tribulation - not just before Christ returns - NOT the rapture today.
Those signs are not to us today - they are to the Jews!!!!!

Will we fall or quit like so many are doing lately
or will we make it to the "cut off"?

Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. Romans 11:22

For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, II Timothy 4:10

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; I Timothy 4:1

Let's Consider:
II Timothy 2:7 - Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

No control of your own life

man's duty & design & curse

finances

lack of or too much

peer pressure from family, friends, foes and fashions
reaping your earlier years

the battle would bring on huge, hurtful battle damage.

should it or not be done then?
right down to the people we care the most about - family / close friends and even ourselves!
who is watching your present testimony vs the right one if you were to make the turn?
how long can you continue to take the shame / embarassment of being a loser to Tobiah's ways -

forcing you to compromise,
cause you to crumble under slander of you to others,
giving in to their continued conspiracy against you,
their mocking of your desire to follow Paul's manner of life.
How long will you continue to allow them to cause you to do wrong when you really don't have to...?

maybe you have not always believed to the convincing level - mostly just outside appearance but not honest about it all.

never been burnt by the issue - just an educated religious response to a teaching...?

Flesh Battles Our Mind

Whomever you feed the most is the one who will be the strongest!
Walk in the Spirit means to walk according to the rightly divided KJB - word of truth!

not our thoughts, opinions, unless based from Scriptures...

Romans 8:4 - That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Not just some magical spiritual cloud...

Galatians 5:25 - If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16 - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Money is becoming our god!

I Timothy 6:9-10 - But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
By choice - or forced, it makes no difference - it still can do the damage!!

Getting Spoiled?

Colossians 2:8 - Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Wrong Desires / Wrong turns right back into bondage of the world and the manner of life of a lost person!

Galatians 4:9 - But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Wrong Affection

The right kind

Colossians 3:2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Mortify the bad kind

Colossians 3:5 - Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Vile affections

Romans 1:26 - For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Without natural affection

Romans 1:31 - Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Flesh's affections

Galatians 5:24 - And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Time not important to the younger vs aged!

Colossians 4:5 - Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Ephesians 5:16 - Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
The young have not had the 'life' to ruin/battle/lie/hurt themselves ... yet!

And they don't think they will make 'our' mistakes...

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Not renewed daily!

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
II Corinthians 4:16 - For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Ephesians 4:23 - And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Colossians 3:10 - And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

see here - the good works that Paul preaches helps us stay encouraged to continue on the right path!

fainting?

Galatians 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Running out of strength now?

The 'new way' is nothing but the old nature/flesh fixed up with a bit of morals, if even that!

Finally, in their mind, life is "back to being fun again!"

Ah, the easy and fun life in this present world!

Jeremiah 42:13-17 - But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God, Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: And now therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye remnant of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there; Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die. So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

It happens to us - we die spiritually - not physically these days. Kingdom of God vs Kingdom of Heaven issue!

Unthankful and unappreciative with bad results!

Colossians 3:15 - And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Romans 1:21-23 - Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. CHOOSE NOT to endure sound doctrine!

Do you know what is sound doctrine?

not just the first part of Titus 2 - the WHOLE chapter!

embarrassed of sound doctrine? Ashamed? of what? doing right in God's eyes according to Paul? What do you want 'your right' to be 'according' to?
II Timothy 1:8 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Romans 2:16 - In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Can't take the preaching of Paul!

The 'tough' people talk about taking hard preaching; however, they can't take Paul!
They love his 'freeing' doctrine of Ephesians, Philippians, Romans, etc. but hate his stuff in later years about the walk!
The longsuffering, patience and goodness of God seem to really bother them!
They can't handle God not being a threat to Christian!
It affects their own pride - it's Him, not them!

They can't 'earn' physical blessings.
They can't say you are doing good enough to earn God's blessings...

The manner of life of Paul is about the christian walk, not just a 'brain' Bible fact to learn.

Very specific - just read one verse out of Titus 2 and you will see how much people hate Paul's teachings!

Try I Timothy 2:0-12; 5:13-15
They can't take those verse just read 'as is' - no exhorting necessary!

Being sublimed!

How do you know you are not being deceived with seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

I Timothy 4:1 giving heed...

Being bewitched?

Emphasize 4,5 - people give up on their faith!

makes for a good guilt trip, too - in vain!

Music is the greatest of seducing spirits today - feeding you fables, feelings, and flesh in your worship, etc.

Not avoiding, withdrawing from, turning away, etc.

Do you know all that you are to avoid, withdraw from, have no company with, etc.
Are you following Paul's directions!

People are taught that the power and strength today is in education!

II Timothy 3:7 - Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

You see the folly and laugh now that you are 'out.'

II Timothy 3:9 - But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
You left the folly but now don't believe there is any truth, etc.
You are mad at God for not being the God you thought He would be - your own terms!

I Thessalonians 4:8 - He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto his holy Spirit.

Rebellion

The standard reason - just rebelling to what you know to be correct!

I Samuel 15:23 - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

We all need to be thankful for the goodness of God today!

Another Jesus

II Corinthians 11:4 - For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Not following Paul and missing out on the Risen Saviour!

Trusting in lying words that cannot profit!

Not the word of truth - thus it isn't the gospel of your salvation!

You miss out...

all things in common - no uniqueness and talents, etc!

daily with one accord in the temple - temple is an old testament design, not Eph 4 church
house to house fellowship - no matter what, etc. improper fellowship
having favour with all the people in the community - again, ecumenical, etc.
