II Timothy 3:16
|
All scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works. |
Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.
That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every
good work. ASV |
Psalm 12:6,7
|
The words of the LORD are pure words: as
silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt
preserve them from this generation for ever. |
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in
a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked, |
I Corinthians 13:8-10
|
Charity never faileth: but whether there
be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease;
whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in
part.
But when that which is perfect is come,
then that which is in part shall be done away. |
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge,
it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. |
II Timothy 2:15,16
|
Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for
they will increase unto more ungodliness. |
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker
who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become
more and more ungodly. |
Acts 18:26
|
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue:
whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and
expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. |
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila
heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way
of God more adequately. |
I Corinthians 12:31
|
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and
yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. |
Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
And yet I will show you the most excellent way. |
Acts 9:15,16
|
But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way:
for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles,
and kings, and the children of Israel:
16: For I will shew him how great things
he must suffer for my name's sake. |
But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument
to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of
Israel.
I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” |
Acts 9:20-22
|
And straightway he
preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
But all that heard him were amazed, and
said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem,
and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the
chief priests?
But Saul increased the more in strength,
and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very
Christ. |
At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son
of God.
All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the
man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And
hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living
in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah. |
Acts 13:46,47
|
Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and
said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken
to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of
everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying,
I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for
salvation unto the ends of the earth. |
Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the
word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves
worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation
to the ends of the earth.” |
Acts 28:28-31
|
Be it known therefore unto you, that the
salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
And when he had said these words, the Jews
departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own
hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching
those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence,
no man forbidding him. |
“Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent
to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”
[29] (omitted)
For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and
welcomed all who came to see him.
He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus
Christ — with all boldness and without hindrance! |
Acts 17:24,25
|
God that made the world and all things
therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples
made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men's hands,
as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath,
and all things; |
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven
and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather,
he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. |
Acts 19:27
|
So that not only this our craft is in danger
to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana
should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all
Asia and the world worshippeth. |
There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name,
but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited;
and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia
and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.” |
Acts 26:16-20
|
But rise, and stand
upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make
thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen,
and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
Delivering thee from the people, and from
the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
To open their eyes, and to turn them from
darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may
receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified
by faith that is in me.
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient
unto the heavenly vision:
But shewed first unto them of Damascus,
and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to
the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet
for repentance. |
‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint
you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of
me.
I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am
sending you to them
to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from
the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins
and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
“So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from
heaven.
First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all
Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and
turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds. |
Acts 26:25
|
But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus;
but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. |
I am not insane, most excellent Festus,” Paul replied. “What I am
saying is true and reasonable. |
Romans 16:25-26
|
Now to him that is of power to stablish
you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according
to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world
began,
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures
of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made
known to all nations for the obedience of faith: |
Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel,
the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation
of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by
the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to
the obedience that comes from ] faith— |
I Cor 4:16,17; 11:1
|
Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers
of me. |
Therefore I urge you to imitate me. |
II Timothy 1:8
|
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony
of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions
of the gospel according to the power of God; |
So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his
prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power
of God. |
Galatians 1:9
|
As we said before,
so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that
ye have received, let him be accursed. |
As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching
to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! |
Galatians 1:12
|
For I neither received it of man, neither
was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. |
I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather,
I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. |
Ephesians 3:1-3
|
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of
Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
If ye have heard of the dispensation of
the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
How that by revelation he made known unto
me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, |
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake
of you Gentiles—
Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that
was given to me for you, 3 that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation,
as I have already written briefly. |
Ephesians 3:6-9
|
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs,
and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
Whereof I was made a minister, according
to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working
of his power.
Unto me, who am less than the least of all
saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the
unsearchable riches of Christ;
And to make all men see what is the fellowship
of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in
God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: |
This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together
with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the
promise in Christ Jesus.
I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given
me through the working of his power.
Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this
grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ,
and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,
which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. |
