the other things
that we are to fully know about Paul.
(from the fair booth days)
OTHERS - IN YOUR HOME
Neither count I my life dear
...neither count I my life dear unto
myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,
and the ministry, which I have received
of the Lord Jesus,
to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20: 24
This stuff has great family
What kind of manner of life do you have
for the 'others' in your home?
a) rotten childhood yourself? Well, don't give them 'what you
never had' - do right for their sakes - somebody has to stop the bad path!
b) rough times - light affliction, Paul calls it. Nothing like it
will for the glory to come later in life. We learn from these tough
times, don't we? We can still grow up ok even if the childhood wasn't
c) reason with Scripture! Do right rightly!
d) be seriously stirred about what is going on today 'towards' your
e) dispute with whom you have to dispute with, but make they are
those of whom are trying to HARM your children, not help them!
f) do you parent with humility of mind - or are you a parent
who knows all and there is nothing anyone can show you?
g) do you have tears of concern or tears of embarrassment and hurt
personal parenting pride?
h) don't hold back what you need to do to guide and protect your
kids. You are NOT their friend, you are their parent, but you can
i) declare ALL your counsel
j) be led by the Spirit of God - He knows your children quite
well - as well as your self!
j) your life is not to be dear unto yourself - you will be
by yourself soon enough! And then you can do what you want - if your
children let you!
Needful for others, not what you yourself
Give your self to others!
Your children need you more than ever!
They need you to say 'no' as well as 'yes!'
They need you to 'not give' as well as 'give!'
They need you to be the right example and
to know right and do right in this world of subtle &
sneaky satanic attacks! - some are even blatant and parents still miss
Philippians 1:20-25 -
According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall
be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ
shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in
the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I
wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to
depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless
to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having
this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for
furtherance and joy of faith;
He prays for others - us!
Proper parenting involves sacrificing of your self
for your children, not the sacrificing of your children for yourself!
I Thessalonians 2:7-13 -
But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing
to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but
also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. For ye
remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and
day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached
unto you the gospel of God. Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily
and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged
every one of you,
as a father doth his children, That ye would walk
worthy of God, who hath
called you unto his kingdom and glory. For
this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received
the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word
of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually
worketh also in you that believe.
Furtherance of the gospel!
Do you pray these things for others?
No other doctrine!
Life doesn't always go well or to your satisfaction
- but Romans 8:28 can still take place in the home. God still gets
all the glory!
Philippians 1:12 - But
I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened
unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
Also, make sure it is the proper gospel that gets
furthered - Paul's!
Took the time to tell them all what ALL needed
to be said!
No cults, no religions, no denominational teachings,
no baptist distinctives, no church buildup, no faith based concepts, etc.
I Timothy 1:3 - As
I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia,
that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine...
Jealous - Suspiciously vigilant; anxiously careful
and concerned for.
II Corinthians 11:1-4 -
Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear
with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have
espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin
to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled
Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the
simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another
Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which
ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye
might well bear with him.
Galatians 1:8,9 - But
though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto
you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel
unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:11,12 - But
I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not
after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but
by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Acts:20:27 - For
I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Acts 20:7 - And
upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break
bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued
his speech until midnight.
II Corinthians 12:15 - And
I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly
I love you, the less I be loved.
They behaved themselves for the sakes of others!
Tears for them or because of them?
Acts 20:31 - Therefore
watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not
to warn every one night and day with tears.
II Corinthians 2:4 - For
out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many
tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know
the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
Endure for their sakes!
If we only knew how much our kids learn FROM us,
instead of just BY us. That includes how much we can be a good or
bad example as grandparents...!
II Thessalonians 3:7-9 -
For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves
disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for
nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might
not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not power, but to
make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
You want others to have the good of what you had from the Lord!
II Timothy 2:10,11 -
Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may
also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live
Unless the Lord gets ahold of them through
that Book, the devil will instead through the world!
Acts 26:29 - And
Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me
this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except
It isn't what you do, it is what you are... and "who
Do you want your kids to be LIKE you? don't
let them trick you with their 'likeynesses'. If you are afraid to
lose them when they graduate, you probably already have lost them.
Do you want your kids to be better than you?
they won't be...
Do you want your kids to be worse than you?
that is the standard pattern, it seems.
Who are the "Others" in your
