Stopping the Mouth of a Gainsayer
Introduction
Titus 1:9-16

We begin a long 'study' series on taking comments and challenges from a Gospel Gainsayer and showing him by exhortation and doctrine how wrong and dangerous he is by rejecting Paul Only for his personal application as a Christian.  He will be taught by his college how to subvert whole houses, teaching things which he ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.  Maybe he will take heed to Paul's answers to his religious mixed-up conclusions and confusing logic as he worships his unknown God.

We look today at what & who we are to avoid so we don't cause strife and waste time, etc. and who we can talk with...

P.S. During the gainsayers series, there will be no notes other than what is on this page.  I doubt that any gainsayers would listen to the audio so they would only scan the notes and disagree.  This way, if they really want to hear my thoughts and answers, etc. they will have to listen to the actual preaching / teaching and hear all that needs to be said.

Stopping the Mouth of a Gainsayer
Round One Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

We look at his three major 'obstacle' points to his believing "Paul Only."

1)  He says, "Based on I John 2:18 & II Peter 3:2-4, Hebrews to Jude can't be Tribulation books."
2) Jewish and Gentiles are one so why not all follow the Jewish teachings instead of 'Gentile only?'
3)  He says 'All scripture is profitable for application.'
We also take a quick look at his closing comments:
1)  He says 'Pilate never physically whipped Jesus.'
2)  He says the Holy Spirit taught Paul, not Jesus Christ - based on John 14 & 16, etc.
3)  He asked, "Why did Paul preach to the Jews in Acts?"
4)  He asked, "What does the killing of Stephen have to do with Christ going on to the Gentiles?"
However, typical of a gainsayer, their mind is corrupted and destitute of the truth.  I doubt he will even understand the answers - and I KNOW this will not convince him.  He will just have more questions and comments.  Paul does tell us to avoid these situations as they are a waste of time.  However, for our sake of learning - AND - for his sake, I will give him all these chances to see all his doubts and questions answered by Paul ONLY.

PS - very poor video quality as I had to use a webcam for the cam -and lately, the sound isn't the best, either - still working on those problems!

Round Two Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

Tonight, we look at how our gainsayer tries to make the Sermon on the Mount apply to us today.  I had sent him verses that contradict Paul's teachings as well to show we can not nor does anyone ever try to apply these verses today.

Our gainsayer first challenge my on my not using the word 'application' thus I don't believe all scripture, etc.   Then, he denies it himself, but by the time he was done, he then says he does believe it.  This is a great example of lousy reasoning - and confusion - all in one paragraph!

As I study his 'comments' I am beginning to see that he has three main issues he is missing.  1) He has no idea what the difference is between the kingdom of heaven (only mentioned in Matthew & never mentioned by Paul) & the kingdom of God (only what Paul taught!); 2) He uses the same couple of verses to hang all his doctrine on to show the Hebrews to Jude is NOT Tribulational application; 3) His reasoning actually goes against the simple truth of the KJB, as rightly divided.

We look at the times that the Jews spent 'reasoning' with Jesus, etc. only to see that Jesus accuses them of 'perceive ye not yet, neither understand?  have ye your heart yet hardened?

Then we look at the few times Paul spent reasoning with the Jews. When the Jews couldn't handle what Paul taught of the Risen Saviour, they would then reason together - and NEVER get it!

Then, we spent the rest of the evening comparing our gainsayers attempt at applying the Beatitudes to Christians today with what Paul says.  We look at Matthew 5:9,10 and 18 tonight.  The 'reasoning' really makes no sense while Paul's application is truly the way of God more perfectly!

His reasoning is almost silly it is so roundabout and senseless.

PS - very poor video quality as I had to use a webcam for the cam -and lately, the sound isn't the best, either - still working on those problems!

Stopping the Mouth of a Gainsayer
Round Three Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

This morning, we continue with our gainsayers attempt to make the Beatitudes apply to us today.  My apologies about the sound and video... I hope to have it all corrected when my new cables arrive???

Remember - these are just very simplified notes - so the gainsayer will have to listen to the sermon, not just read a few notes... yet I hope it shows you folks what to look for - to create an interest in how doctrine and exhortation is needed for the gainsayers.

He says Matthew 5:20 is the heart and soul of the sermon on the mount?  We show doctrinal reasons why that can not be so.

He then talks about 'the new nature' we receive that makes us want to please God, etc.  First of all, the word is not 'nature' - again we see the lack of seriousness when it comes to the very word God uses... as well as missing the key point that the Risen Saviour has for us concerning this 'desire' we are to have.

He then says if we don't have that desire, then we are not saved.  That is the common answer for anytime somebody 'else' doesn't walk the Christian walk according to the gospels.

We take on the arrogancy of today's 'modern' Bible believing Christian when it comes to pleasing God, yet they totally reject Paul's manner of life that pleases God.  I suppose that God would tell them to ignore Paul's writings - or try to mix them with directions spoken to the Jews BEFORE Jesus died and rose again, etc.

He also tries to convince us again that I John 2:18 and II Peter 3:3-4 is the achilles heal of the premise that Hebrews - Jude is to the Tribulation saints.  Amazing - he keeps on using these two verses falsely as well as ignoring the many many verses that show otherwise!

This guy is nothing but a Catholic following Peter, the apostle to the circumcision, while taking on the "Holy Baptist" clothes.

We finish with a doctrinal 'fixing' of what he says about Matthew 6:1-4.  He states we should have a good inward religion - but I say, "How about NO religion?"

We see the crux of why the Great Commission Gospel preachers preach physical blessings for today - if they did right, then God would 'reward them openly.'

We finish by looking at the Lord's Prayer, as it is called today.  If that doesn't prove to our gainsayer that we are not to follow the Gospels for application today, then I suppose he will continue his vain repetition of a prayer - instead of praying without ceasing as Paul preaches and teaches!

Bonus:  Welfare Christians just sit and wait for God to bless them - or to drink the sweat of other Christians who continue to help them along but not giving them strength, etc. as was Sodom's problem according to Ezekiel 16:49.

Round Four Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

My apologies about the sound and video... I hope to have it all corrected when my new cables arrive???

Tonight, he tells us to watch Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown to show the meaning of Matthew 5:25.

Paul uses similiar language to Matthew 5:29-30?  Is he serious?  Again, we see their manner of saying folks that don't walk clean is proof that they weren't even saved in the first place.

Does he miss the importance of taking an oath today if he follows his Gospels as he tries to explain 5:39.

What about resisting evil today compared to the Gospel days?

He says to see his comments on 5:44,45; I say to "See my response!"

We finish bye taking on a few of his 'extra' comments about a few various subjects.

  • 1) We look at the verses he can NOT explain - and for obvious reason!
  • 2) He uses Greek to prove the KJB!  In other words, his final authority is NOT the KJB.  I wonder which Greek he is following?  I wonder if he thinks the originals are available, too?
  • 3)  He finishes the evening for us by showing his circular, pointless reasoning as he tries to reason with us about Matthew 5:1-12 not being applicable to us today.  He will never see it, but he actually proves my point about Paul ONLY in his reasoning.  Funny!

Round Five Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

Here are the questions we deal with today.  Hear the gainsayers empty answers compared to Paul's comments on the following questions:

  • 1) Is Acts 8:37 a salvation verse text today?
  • 2) We are dead to sin, according to Romans 6:11 - so explain that according to the teachings of the Gospels.
  • 3) If we are 'born of God' as you say, then according to I John 3:9, if you sin, are you no longer 'born of God?'
  • 4) How do you overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God, according to I John 5:5?
  • 5) Do you become partakers of the Mormons, JW's, etc. if you let them into your home and wish them God's speed, according to II John 10-11.  By the way, his answer was 'guess so.'  Hear the real answer here!
  • 6) Does Paul preach that God spue' the church out of his mouth today?
  • 7) Why do men in the tribulation try to wrest what Paul says; or if you say those are books to us today, then why do folks wrest what Paul teaches when he says his ways are to be taught in every church?
  • 8) Does a Christian have to worry about the law today?
  • 9) Explain what i means to not have sin imputed when there is no law to a believer.. and all that comes with that doctrine, compare that to the Gospels about sin.
  • 10) Do we have to 'endure to the end' to maintain our own personal salvation?
I am still having major issues with sound quality; the video is so awful, I just will leave it off for now.

Round Six Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16

These are the questions/comments we deal with this morning.  Sorry - but no video as of yet, but the sound should be somewhat better?

  • 1) If the Lord doesn't impute our sins anymore but does impute HIS righteousness, then what 'sins' do you say we need to worry about - and why?
  • 2) What is the purpose of the Judgment Seat of Christ vs the White Throne Judgment?
  • 3) Is Satan walking ON the earth right now, according to I Peter 5:8?
  • 4) What commandments are we to keep if we want to 'know him,' according to I John 2:3?
  • 5) If you believe all Scriptures are applicable to you today, then you must believe you are anointed and have no need for anyone to teach you because you know it all - according to I John 2:27.
  • 6) Do have that unction mentioned in I John 2:20?

Round Seven Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16
These are the questions/comments we deal with tonight.  Sorry - but no video as of yet, but the sound should be somewhat better?
  • 1) So, you believe we can not be saved / lose our salvation if we hate our brethren, based on I John 4:7-8?
  • 2) You say I John is a book of tests to see if you really are a believer because you might have a problem with one of the brethren?
  • 3) Did the Holy Spirit teach Paul and the apostles the same 'message?'
  • 4) Weren't the apostles told to NOT go to the Gentiles with Jesus' gospel in the Gospels?
  • 5) If you go to Mark 16:15-20 for your gospel, then what about those signs, wonders, etc.?
  • 6) Should we be preaching the gospel of the kingdom today according to Matthew 24:14.
  • 7) Are there any scriptures that tell us to follow Paul 'Only?'

Round Eight Goes to Paul Only!
Titus 1:9-16
Back to our gainsayer...

He says that because there are many contradictions when you compare Paul to the rest of the Bible.  No, Mr. Gainsayer - it actually means just the opposite.  Because there are so many contradictions with Paul and the rest of the Bible, that proves that you can not mix them up into one all around gospel for personal application.  Going with Paul "Only" eliminates all those contradictions!

  • 1) Do we say God's way is now 'understandable' when He says it isn't?  Psalm 20:24
  • 2) You say that Habakkuk proves that OT was not a salvation by works, but by faith!  Habakkuk 2:4...   It Does?  Compare it to Romans 3:28 - do you see the difference?  You still don't understand the faith of Jesus Christ and our faith, do you?
  • 3) You tell me that OT people died having faith, so you wonder how I can you say it is by works?  I'll tell you - listen closely!
  • 4) You are wondering where I get the teaching that the books from Hebrews to Jude are Tribulation. You also wonder that if the Jews would have accepted Christ from Peter, why do I say the Tribulation was right around the corner for them at that time?
  • 5) "Hey, Mr. Gainsayer?  If you read and try to apply Leviticus 26:12, then why do you ignore the rest of that chapter?"  That chapter explains, in detail, the consequences of not following God during the OT.  Do we have to worry about those same consequences today?  Why or why not?
