Why Would Anyone
No Longer Want to Continue in the Goodness of God?
|
Part IX
Romans 11:22
-
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness:
otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Romans
2:4b - ...not knowing that the goodness
of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Romans
1:21-23 - Because that, when they knew
God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain
in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing
themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the
uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds,
and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
II Thessalonians
1:11 - Wherefore also we pray always
for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil
all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with
power:
Still more possible reasons why
folks depart from the Goodness of God:
Let's 'rightly divide' fainting... there
is an interesting observation that can be made here as we look at the Gospels
and Tribulation books and compare them with the writings of Paul from the
Risen Saviour.
This is just a very general listing of the verses we look at tonight.
You will have to listen to the audio sermon to see how these all work together
to show that more often than not, we tend to try to live Paul's manner
of life in our strength. We also see that is EXACTLY how today's
pastor preaches and teaches about strength.
The verses we consider tonight as follows:
(not necessarily in the following order, either)
Gospel verses showing it was by THEIR strength and by THEIR faith
that was to keep them going.
-
Luke 10:27
-
Mark 12:30
-
Matthew 9:36
-
Matthew 15:32
-
Mark 8:3
-
Luke 18:1
-
Proverbs 24:10 - If
thou faint in the day of adversity, THY strength is small!
Tribulation books about OBEDIENCE to give them understanding and strength!
-
Hebrews 12:3
-
Hebrews 12:5
-
Revelation 2:3
Paul's writings are about our strength being HIS (Risen Savour) strength,
not ours!
-
II Corinthians 4:1
-
II Corinthians 4:16
-
Galatians 6:9
-
Ephesians 3:13
Miscellaneous comments from within audio sermon:
-
We are still in the Philadelphian church age - we have little strength.
-
LAODICEAN would be the church during the Tribulation... if those 7 churches
have personal application today concerning the 'church.'
-
Romans 6:5 -
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the
ungodly!
-
I Corinthians 15:56 - The sting of
death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
-
But we don't have the law today as Christians...
-
Listen to the audio to hear comments on this.
-
II Corinthians 12:9 -
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is
made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory
in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
-
Ephesians 3:16:
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened
with might by his Spirit in the inner man.
-
Philippians 4:13
- I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
-
Hebrews 9:17 -
For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of NO STRENGTH
at all while the testator liveth.
-
I Peter 5:10 -
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by
Christ Jesus, after that ye have SUFFERED a while, make you perfect, stablish,
strengthen, settle you.
Conclusion:
-
Today's Christianity teaches that YOUR strength is what you need to rely
on and that YOUR strength can come from prayer; obedience and suffering
as they use the verses from the Gospels and the Tribulation books to prove
their point in today's churches.
-
Paul teaches that our strength comes from HIM and from the KJB. We
shouldn't faint if we keep our mind in the KJB and not in this present
world!
