Why Would Anyone
No Longer Want to Continue in the Goodness of God?
|
Part III
Romans 11:22
-
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness:
otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Romans
2:4b - ...not knowing that the goodness
of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Romans
1:21-23 - Because that, when they knew
God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain
in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing
themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the
uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds,
and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
II Thessalonians
1:11 - Wherefore also we pray always
for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil
all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with
power:
More Possible Reasons
Why!
6. They loved the truth of all things being lawful...
-
All things are lawful unto me...
-
I Corinthians 6:12 -
All things are lawful unto me, but ...
-
I Corinthians 10:23 -
All things are lawful for me, but...
-
Romans 10:4 - For
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
-
Galatians 2:19 -
-
Romans 3:28 - Therefore
we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
-
Romans 4:13 - For
the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham,
or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
-
Romans 6:22 - But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your
fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
-
Romans 8:2 - For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the
law of sin and death.
-
...but they never asked themselves about the 'strings' attached to please
God or to have those bad works burn at the Judgment Seat of Christ!
-
a. must be expedient - I Corinthians 6:12
-
b. must edify - I Corinthians 10:23
-
c. must not be an occasion for the flesh - Galatians
5:13
-
d. must not cause someone to stumble - Romans
14:19-22; I Corinthians 8:9
-
e. must not be under the power thereof...
I Corinthians 6:12
-
Paul's writings are what will our standard for the
Judgment Seat of Christ, not as judgment or chastisement for our 'sins'
anymore!
-
Romans 2:16 -
In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according
to my gospel.
7. Consider yourself not worthy!
-
Acts 13:46 - ...
but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting
life...
-
We are not worthy - that is obvious...
-
however, if you follow the Jewish Great Commission, you could easily think
in the same manner and reject what Paul teaches about & from the Risen
Saviour!
-
You just can't imagine that Christ truly did all the He says He did.
-
Spiritual Circumcision - operation made without hands.
-
No chastisement / judgment of works no
-
impute his righteousness.
-
no law as righteousness standard for us
-
etc.
-
You still just can't accept his 100% grace without your involvement of
confession, guilt, fear, etc.
-
However, you can become worthy, if that is an issue for you - but Christ
will be the One who will make you worthy...
-
Acts 5:41 - And
they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were
counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
-
II Thessalonians 1:4-5 - So
that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience
and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which
is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted
worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
-
II Thessalonians 1:11-12 - Wherefore
also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this
calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work
of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified
in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus
Christ.
8. Hatred and Rejection of Personal Persecution
-
II Timothy 3:12 -
-
vs
-
Romans 8:18
-
Not willing to 'take heed' to the Risen Saviour's commands towards
'others'...
-
Avoid, from such withdraw, not strive, neither
give heed, purge, be not partakers, reject, mark, have no company!
-
The leavening process will eventually bring you down - and you won't
even recognize it happening.
-
Galatians 5:9 - A
little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
-
I Corinthians 5:6 -
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the
whole lump?
-
You will be bewitched by the philosophies of these people involved...
-
Galatians 3:1 - O
foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the
truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified
among you?
-
Colossians 2:8 -
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after
the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
-
1. avoid
-
Romans 16:17:
Now
I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences
contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
-
II Timothy
2:23 - But foolish and unlearned questions
avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
-
Titus 3:9 -
But
avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings
about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
-
2. from such withdraw / ye
withdraw yourselves...
-
II Thessalonians
3:6 - Now we command you, brethren, in
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from
every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which
he received of us.
-
I Timothy 6:3-5
- If any man teach otherwise, and
consent
not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and
to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing
nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof
cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings
of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain
is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
end
of sermon #3 - the material below continues in #4. In #4, I have
included all of these 'avoids,' etc. for your purpose of printing, studying
and remembering!!!
Beginning
of sermon #4
-
3. not strive...
-
II Timothy
2:14 - (read 14-18)
Of
these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that
they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting
of the hearers.
-
the non-rightly
dividers!
-
II Timothy
2:24-26 - And the servant of the Lord
must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they
may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive
by him at his will.
-
P.S. - Christians
can be taken captive, as well - of course - in their flesh!!
-
Bunny trail -
DO STRIVE...
-
DO strive to preach
Paul's gospel where Christ isn't named...
-
Romans 15:20
- Yea, so have I strived to preach the
gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another
man's foundation:
-
DO strive in prayers
to God for Paul... us...
-
Romans 15:30
- Now I beseech you, brethren, for the
Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive
together with me in your prayers to God for me;
-
We must still
strive to do it right!
-
I Corinthians
9:25 - And every man that striveth for
the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain
a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
-
II Timothy
2:5 - And if a man also strive for masteries,
yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
-
according to rightly
dividing, of course!
-
4. neither give heed...
-
Titus 1:14
- Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and
commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
-
I Timothy 1:4
- Neither give heed to fables and endless
genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which
is in faith: so do.
-
fables - jewish
teachings
-
Great Commission
if taught TO us today. etc.
-
Great Commission
teaching today leaves a lot of questions unanswered...
-
endless genealogies
- apostolic succession, catholic AND baptist briders, etc!
-
5. purge...
-
I Corinthians
5:7 - Purge out therefore the old leaven,
that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover
is sacrificed for us:
-
II Timothy
2:19-21 - Nevertheless the foundation of
God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
But
in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to
dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's
use, and prepared unto every good work.
-
6. reject...
-
Titus 3:10
- A man that is an heretick after the
first and second admonition reject;
-
Why?
-
Titus 3:11
- Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth,
being condemned of himself.
-
7. be not partakers...
-
I Corinthians
10:21 - Ye cannot drink the cup of the
Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table,
and
of the table of devils.
-
I Corinthians
9:12 - If others be partakers of this power
over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power;
but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
(see 9:1-5)
-
Ephesians 5:7
- Be not ye therefore partakers with
them.
(see 1-6)
-
I Timothy 5:22
- Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither
be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. (Applied
during Judgment Seat, of course!)
-
The good stuff
to partake
-
Philippians
1:7 - Even as it is meet for me to think
this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my
bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers
of my grace.
-
Colossians
1:12 - Giving thanks unto the Father, which
hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
-
II Corinthians
1:7 - And our hope of you is stedfast,
knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also
of the consolation.
-
Ephesians 3:6
- That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs,
and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
-
I Corinthians
9:10 - Or saith he it altogether for our
sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should
plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of
his hope.
-
I Corinthians
9:23 - And this I do for the gospel's sake,
that I might be partaker thereof with you.
-
II Timothy
1:8 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of
the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker
of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
-
II Timothy
2:6 - The husbandman that laboureth must
be first partaker of the fruits.
-
Good question
for you sincere Paul followers of the Risen Saviour...:
-
I Corinthians
10:30 - For if I by grace be a partaker,
why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
-
P.S. -
Here are a few verses not written TO today's dispensation, but are yet
still taught today!
-
I Peter 5:1
- The elders which are among you I exhort,
who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also
a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
-
II John 1:11
- For he that biddeth him God speed is
partaker of his evil deeds.
-
8. mark them which cause divisions...
/ mark them which walk according to Paul...
-
Bad mark - Romans
16:17 - Now I beseech you, brethren, mark
them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which
ye have learned; and avoid them.
-
Good mark - Philippians
3:17 - Brethren, be followers together
of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
-
9. note them...
-
II Thessalonians
3:14 - And
if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have
no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
-
10. have no company...
-
II Thessalonians
3:14 - And if any man obey not our
word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him,
that he may be ashamed.
-
but don't forget
this in the next verse: Yet count
him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
-
11. put away from yourselves...
-
That wicked person:
-
I Corinthians
5:13 - But them that are without God judgeth.
Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
-
That wicked person
is:
-
I Corinthians
5:9-11 - I wrote unto you in an epistle
not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators
of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters;
for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto
you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator,
or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner;
with such an one no not to eat.
-
Childish things:
-
I Corinthians
13:11 - When I was a child, I spake as
a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became
a man, I put away childish things.
-
Ephesians 4:14
- That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the
sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
-
Bitterness,
wrath, anger, clamour, evil speaking:
-
Ephesians 4:31
- Let all bitterness, and wrath, and
anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice:
-
12. cast off...
-
Romans 13:12
- The night is far spent, the day is at
hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us
put on the armour of light.
-
The wrong casting
off...
-
I Timothy 5:12
- Having damnation, because they have cast
off their first faith.
-
13. have no fellowship...
-
Ephesians 5:11
- And have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
-
14. be delivered unto Satan!
-
What's left when none of the all above
works?
-
Are people forced or do they choose
to return to this present world?
-
To love this present world is to follow
Satan - he is the god of this world.
-
Destruction of the flesh?
-
Pre-KJB? Not today?
-
To deliver
such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit
may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. I
Corinthians 5:5
-
Let the world
beat you up!
-
Let the world
'bless' you with worldliness!
-
Learn not to blaspheme!
-
Of whom
is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they
may learn not to blaspheme. I Timothy
