How can people so miss the
'obvious' these days? Click here for Introduction Today - Part I
A mind that is teachable is one that is willing & wanting
to make the effort & time to learn!
doctrine
reproof
correction
instruction in righteousness
Study to shew thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
With an increase in ungodliness as a result of wrongly dividing the
word of truth (II Timothy 2:15,16) we
are also seeing an increase in those whowill
not endure sound doctrine (II Timothy
4:3) but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.
People are only going to learn what they want to hear - and when they want
to hear it!
But that shouldn't affect what the Risen Saviour told to Paul to tell us:
Preach
the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering and doctrine.
And he also tells us not strive about it - II
Timothy 2:24-26 - And the servant of the
Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they
may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive
by him at his will.
Review from Introduction: I. Minds were made to be evil affected!
II. Feebleminded 'on purpose'
So, here goes more instructing those that oppose
themselves, or for those who CAN endure sound doctrine and willing to learn!
III. Highminded
Proud; arrogant
In a great degree; ambitiously. With elevation of mind or opinion; with
great estimation; as, to think highly of one's performances.
Remember the Maine? - Remember the Alamo? - Remember the Lusitania? How
about "Remember the Jews"
Romans 11:11 - I
say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather
through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke
them to jealousy.
Romans 11:20-22 - Well;
because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be
not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take
heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity
of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou
continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
referring to the Gentile nation, not individuals
being cut off and lose salvation
Romans 11:25 -
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery,
lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is
happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
If it be possible:
Romans 12:16-18 - Be
of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend
to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense
to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
If not possible, then avoid, withdraw, have no company
with, etc.
money does this to a person - even debt can make
this happen
I Timothy 6:17
- Charge them that are rich in this
world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but
in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
getting closer to the 'official' Tribulation
II Timothy 3:4 - ...Traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Being highminded based on your 'belief' based on PSR, PBI, PCS, BJU, TT,
Liberty U, Denominational history, etc.
I Corinthians 3:1-7+ -And
I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal,
even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with
meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye
able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and
strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while
one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed,
even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered;
but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any
thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
It isn't our life to be highminded about!
Romans 14:7-9 -
For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether
we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord:
whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ
both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead
and living.
Zeal is not being highminded!
"Zeal" - Passionate ardor in the pursuit of any
thing. In general, zeal is an eagerness of desire to accomplish or obtain
some object, and it may be manifested either in favor of any person or
thing, or in opposition to it, and in a good or bad cause.
Titus 2:14 - Who
gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify
unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Galatians 4:17,18 - They
zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye
might affect them. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a
good thing, and not only when I am present with you.
IV. Fleshy Puffed Up Mind
Colossians 2:18,19 - Let
no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping
of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed
up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all
the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together,
increaseth with the increase of God.
today, the head - spiritually - is the RD'd KJB!
Head - Ephesians 5:23 - For
the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the
church: and he is the saviour of the body.
joints and bands - Ephesians 4:16 -
From
whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every
joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every
part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Otherwise, they have no idea what they are talking about - and the are
worshipping angels... fallen ones, no doubt, eh!
V. Blinded Minds
Blinded by the devil
II Corinthians 4:3,4 - But
if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god
of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should
shine unto them.
Need plainness of speech
II Corinthians 3:12 - Seeing
then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
Blinded by a vail
II Corinthians 3:13-16 - And
not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel
could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their
minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken
away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Luke 8:12 - stolen words - Those
by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away
the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
The gospels - the heard word
Today - the KJB
Job 17:5 - flatteries blind - He
that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall
fail.
vain words - great swelling words of vanity
- wisdom of words - enticing words of man's wisdom - good words and fair
speeches
they all blind!
unteachable / unlearnable
avoid, etc.
There is more on the vanity of today's mind in part II.
