How To Understand the King James 1611 Bible

Commandments from the Risen Christ to Paul and On To Us Today
Part X

And we have confidence in the Lord touching you,
that ye both DO and will do the things which we command you.
II Thessalonians 3:4
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you,
and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

20. Walk worthy of the Lord!
Colossians 1:10 - That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing being fruitful in every good work increasing in the knowledge of God.

Walk worthy 'of' the Lord, not 'for' the Lord.

Ephesians 4:1-3 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Vocation - the bestowment of God's distinguishing grace upon a person or nation, by which that person or nation is put in the way of salvation; as the vocation of the Jews under the old dispensation, and of the Gentiles under the gospel.

I Thessalonians 2:10-12 - Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
II Thessalonians 1:5 - Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

II Thessalonians 1:11,12 - Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do we have to worry about being made sick or killed because of our lack of worthiness, if we partake of the Lord's Supper unworthily?

I Timothy 6:1,2 - Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

Ephesians 6:5 - Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Ephesians 6:9 - And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
I am referring to men, not to women, of course - Titus 2:5 - To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

21. Walk in him!
Colossians 2:6,7 - As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

I Thessalonians 4:1 - Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Philippians 3:17 - Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Ephesians 5:8 - For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Ephesians 5:15 - See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

CIRCUMSPECTLY - Cautiously; with - watchfulness every way; with attention

Remember the 'beware' stuff that Paul preaches to us?

Ephesians 4:17 - This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Romans 13:13 - Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

CHAMBERING - To be wanton; to indulge in lewd or immodest behavior.
WANTONNESS - Wandering from moral rectitude; licentious; dissolute; indulging in sensuality without restraint; as men grown wanton by prosperity. 1. More appropriately, deviating from the rules of chastity ; lewd ; lustful; lascivious; libidinous.
LIBIDINOUS - a. Lustfully; with lewd desire. The state or quality of being lustful; inordinate appetite for venereal pleasure.

22. Know what great conflict Paul had for us!
2:1-5 - For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
