How To Understand the King James 1611 Bible

Commandments from the Risen Christ to Paul and On To Us Today
Part VIII
Philippians

And we have confidence in the Lord touching you,
that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
II Thessalonians 3:4
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you,
and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
I Thessalonians 1:9
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me,
DO and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:9

16. Rejoice Alway

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

"Rejoice" - To experience joy and gladness in a high degree; to be exhilarated with lively and

pleasurable sensations; to exult. To make joyful; to gladden; to animate with lively pleasurable

sensations; to exhilarate.

Why not rejoice in the Lord "always?"

"Alway" - is now seldom used. The application of this compound to time proceeds from the primary sense of way, which is a going or passing; hence, continuation.

Not just rejoicing every time something happens, etc. but on a continual basis - a manner of life!

I Thessalonians 5:16 - Rejoice evermore.

Look at what He did FOR and TO us!

Grace at all times!
Operation made without hands!
His righteousness imputed to us!
...all things 'are' become new!
His salvation!
His faith!
No law!
For that which is perfect -the KJB!
etc. etc. and so much more etc.!!!

I Corinthians 13:6 - Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Romans 5:2 - By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
II Corinthians 7:7 - And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
II Corinthians 7:9 - Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
Philippians 2:16 - Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Philippians 3:3 - For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

17. Let your moderation be known unto all men

Philippians 4:5 - Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
"Moderation" - The state of being moderate, or of keeping a due mean between extremes or excess of.... 2. Restraint of violent passions or indulgence of appetite.

Modern Bibles:

"unselfish;" "your considerateness;" "gentle attitude;" "forbearance/;" "gentleness;" "yieldingness;" "friendly manner;" "mildness."

You have nothing to be ashamed about - so let it be known... you don't do... etc. and you will suffer for your moderation!

II Timothy 1:8 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
II Timothy 3:12 - Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

A good illustration of moderation is being 'sober minded.'

"Sober" - Not mad or insane; not wild, visionary or heated with passion ; having the regular exercise of cool dispassionate reason. Regular; calm; not under the influence of passion; Serious; solemn; grave.

Paul speaks words of soberness!

Acts 26:25 - But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
Paul did changed his voice - and he had his reason!

Galatians 4:20 - I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

Watch and be sober!

I Thessalonians 5:6 - Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Grace teaches us to be sober!

Titus 2:12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Bishop / Pastors, etc.!

I Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Titus 1:8 - But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

Deacon's wife!

I Timothy 3:11 - Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

Aged men!

Titus 2:2 - That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Aged women / young women!

Titus 2:4 - That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Young men!

Titus 2:6 - Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

18. Be careful for nothing!

Prayer

Not 'a' prayer, either!
Philippians 4:6,7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I Timothy 2:1,2 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

The Lord himself

II Thessalonians 3:16 - Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

Concerning your pastor, etc.

I Thessalonians 5:13 - And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Peace of God...

Colossians 3:15 - And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

From following Paul, we have our assurance as he is the master-builder!

Philippians 4:9 - Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

We are joint-heirs!

Ephesians 2:14 - For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

A walk based on verses 14,15

Galatians 6:16 - And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

A rough marriage!

I Corinthians 7:15 - But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

But don't be so quick to go this route, either!

Assurance in you are believing the truth - rightly divided and KJB, of course!

Romans 15:13 - Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
II Thessalonians 2:13 - But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Live peaceably with all men ... if...

Romans 12:18 - If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

When you can't - and you have tried everything in the first part of Paul's list, then look at Paul's 'get away' list!

Depart; Despise; Destroy; Prayer; Tears; Grace; Truth; Mercy; Longsuffering; Patience; Reprove; Rebuke; Get away (Avoid; withdraw from such; not strive; neither give heed; purge; reject; be not partakers; mark; note them; have no company; not to company with; put away from among yourselves; cast off; have no fellowship); Deliver them unto Satan!

Our justification!

"Justification" - Removal of sin from guilt and punishment; an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ.
Romans 5:1 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 3:24 - Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:28 - Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 3:30 - Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Romans 5:9 - Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Galatians 2:16 - Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Titus 3:7 - That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Be spiritually minded!

Romans 8:6 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Colossians 3:2,3 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Romans 16:18 - For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Philippians 3:18,19 - (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
