so ye would abound more and more.

Most Christians today: lovers of themselves and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God - II Timothy 3:2,4

I John 4:19 - yes, it was meant to the Jews and for us - but see Isaiah 43:8,9 to see that the purpose of the Jews was to give God glory. He passed that job onto us as Gentiles in Romans 11. Our walk and witness has it's benefits and riches of the full assurance of understanding, etc. but it is first and foremost to be a witness to God for His glory! When a person is saved, it is for God's glory!
