Nevertheless...

NEVERTHELESS, adv. Not the less; notwithstanding; that is, in opposition to any thing, or without regarding it. It rained, nevertheless, we proceeded on our journey; we did not the less proceed on our journey; we proceeded in opposition to the rain, without regarding it, or without being prevented.  Webster's 1828 Dictionary

In spite of what previously took place, God continually showed His people He is God...
...that they might know that I am the LORD!

He was / is, always will be God but it sure seems that folks today just can not even begin to understand...

Isaiah 55:8,9 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If all folks want to do is to believe in God, than this is only a 'fraction of the action' that God would have to do to/for them, if all they really had to do was believe in God!

Can Rightly dividing the word "nevertheless" show us anything of importance to us today?

Well, with what goes on 'before' the word 'nevertheless,' we can see that we need to get on with life on the 'right' side of 'nevertheless.'

Well, let's first look at the...
Old Testament

1.  Deuteronomy 23: 5 - Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD they God loved thee.

2.  Judges 2:16 - Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
3.  Nehemiah 9:31 - Nevertheless for they great mercies' sake thou didn't not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou are a gracious and merciful God.
4.  Psalm 73:23 - Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
5.  Psalm 89:33 - Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
6.  Psalm 106:8 - Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known!
     Psalm 106:44 - Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
7.  Proverbs 19:21 - There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
8.  Jeremiah 5:18 - Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
9.  Ezekiel 16:60 - Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
10.  Ezekiel 20:22 - Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
11.  Gospels - yes - remember, they are still OT in their doctrine and place when considered by rightly dividing the word of truth!

Matthew 26:39 -... nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
...if it be possible...
Mark 14:36 - ... nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
...all things are possible...
Luke 22:42 - ... nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
...if thou be willing...
A good example for us to learn from!
Luke 5:5 - And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless at they word I will let down the net.

An interesting one, for sure...
Luke 18:8 -I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.  Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
