Another Sermon for the Starving Bible Believing Christians All Over the World Wide Web
2005 - Touchet Baptist Church, Touchet, Washington - Pastor Mike Paulson - 2005
Expounding the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:26 - with the Scriptures Rightly Divided - II Timothy 2:15

What Is It To Be a Christian Today?
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty,
so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
II Corinthians 11:3

We Finish Life Experiences of Paul
3 "T's" - After Jail
I Timothy 2:2; Titus 1:4 - To Timothy and Titus - his 'sons'

Timothy
To Timothy, thus to us as a Preacher / Evangelist / Pastor / Father / Husband
I Timothy 1:18-20 - Paul's charge to Timothy
I Timothy 2:1-4 - Goal - a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty - and for salvation!
Paul is done... - II Timothy 4:7  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Titus
To Titus - to set up 'churches' with elders, etc. thus we can use today, as well.
Titus 2:15 - speak, exhort and rebuke with all authority!

To Us - Do!
Now, we get into the 'do' things that Paul preached TO us!
And this is the PEACE that Christians should have!
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:9

We begin a series looking at Paul's preachings and teachings
to see in detail "how" it is we should "be" in order to 'be' a Christian.
(not just "what" we should "do!")

Today:
Wheat and tares!
Imitations
Phonies
Frauds
Confused real Christians
Deceived real Christians
Don't know the Book - if they even have one!
Too lazy to try!
Too busy to try!
Too prideful to try!

Many Matthew 7:21-23

Marks of a Rightly Divided Christian
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Romans 16:17
or
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Philippians 3:17

Saved and spiritually circumcised by the sword of the Spirit - the word of God - the King James Bible! Colossians 2:11,12; Hebrews 4:12; Ephesians 6:17
Led by the Spirit to the King James Bible - John 14:26;16:13-15
Christ walking our daily walk by and through the King James Bible - Galatians 2:20, etc.
Willing to fellowship with Him - Revelation 3:20
Willing to keep trying to live for Him and willing to get up after each fall and keep going!  "Get off the cross!"  Live that RISEN LIFE!

Exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:16-23 - but led by and into and through the Book to Jesus Christ - John 14,16.  No Pentecostal flavour or lingo!  I Thessalonians 1:2:13

King James Bible as Final Authority to Rightly Divide
I Corinthians 13:10

Can spot a phony doctrine and is prudent about it.
Ephesians 4:14 -  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Proverbs 12:16 ... a prudent man covereth shame.
Proverbs 12:23: A prudent man concealeth knowledge...
Proverbs 13:16: Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge:...
Proverbs 14:8: The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way...
Proverbs 14:15: ... the prudent man looketh well to his going.
Proverbs 14:18: ...  the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Proverbs 22:3: A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: ...
Proverbs 27:12: A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; ...

Aims to please God, not themselves, by doing right out of love toward God - not because of a unscriptural fear of 'God will gitcha' if you don't!
I Thessalonians 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

Takes heed to 'reading,' 'studying,' and preaching of the words of God - the King James Bible!
I Timothy 4:13: Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
II Timothy 2:15,16  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Can Swim or is seeking how to swim - not float - to heaven!
Acts 27:43,44  But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land: And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

Willing to follow Paul 'past' salvation - a more excellent way!
Rom 11:13,14; 15:15,16; I Cor 3:10; 4:16; Phil 3:17; 4:9; I Thess 1:5,6; 4:1,2; II Thess 3:7-9; I Tim 1:15,16; II Tim 2:7; 4:16,17.
NOT Great Commission, but a greater commission!  Acts 13:47 - unto the ends of the earth
Knows the 'to' and 'for.' I Corinthians 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Concentrates on Romans to Philemon but still understands how to get understanding and apply wisdom in his life from Genesis to Revelation!

Learn to follow the Book (not a pastor, church, etc.) - as God allows you to see -
We have been on a learning course - we can look back and see how God has 'shown' us things - but at the time, we had doubts.  Still have more confidence to come, eh!

Be willing to live that process of perfecting!
II Corinthians 7:1  Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Ephesians 4:12,13  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Philippians 3:12  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Colossians 1:28  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Colossians 3:14  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Colossians 4:12  Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
I Thessalonians 3:10  Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith.
II Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Jude 24,25  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
