• Because of not willing to endure sound doctrine?
• Blinded hearts - minds?
• Pride?  Shame!
• Falsely taught?
• Following Jewish fables?
• Mind and flesh battle!
• Costs too much: their gain / friends / family / religion

• We attack their pride, often because of our pride...
• Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
• Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

• II Thessalonians 3:14 - And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Can we be without rebuke and shine instead?

• Philippians 2:15 - That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

• I Timothy 5:20 - Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

• I Timothy 6:14 - That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

• II Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

• Titus 1:13 - This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
• "sharply" doesn't mean loudly, rudely, offensively, etc.
• A bible verse, etc. at the right time can be sharp enough to cut somebody

• Titus 2:15 - These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

• Hebrews 12:5 - And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
• II Peter 2:16 - But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
• Jude 1:9 - Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
• Revelation 3:19 - As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
