Paul's Manner of Life Ensample - Fully Known?

Part VIII
We are to exhort - but what is it?

But... fully known...???
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
II Timothy 3:10

...After hearing parts I-VI...
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:18

...when you know it will cause you and / or your family to...
...stumble,
...not be edified,
...do something or be around something that isn't expedient,
...could put a power over you / family,
...do something that is just an occasion for the flesh,
then you must:

We did speak (Part VII)

Now we look to exhorting!
Titus 2:15 - These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Exhort
1. To incite by words or advice; to animate or urge by arguments to a good deed or to any laudable conduct or course of action.
2. To advise; to warn; to caution.
3. To incite or stimulate to exertion.

Teaching and exhorting are different

I Timothy 6:2 - And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

Some are better at it than others

Romans 12:6a,8 - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us ... ...Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Wrong gifts if claimed today, thanks to I Corinthians 13:10 and Jewish signs, etc.

I Corinthians 14:3 - But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

Titus accepted the exhortation and came to them / us!

II Corinthians 8:16,17 - But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you. For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.

Exhortation towards giving actually did come from Paul

II Corinthians 9:1-15

But not in the manner of OT tithing and guilt giving, etc.
II Corinthians 9:5 - Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

The exhortation today is full of deceit...

I Thessalonians 2:3 - For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
Read all the chapter

Parents are afraid to exhort to their children today!
I Thessalonians 2:11 - As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

Exhortation towards our Christian walk today should be with his words and teachings, etc. of the risen Saviour!

I Thessalonians 4:1 - Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

Exhortation to us directly!

I Thessalonians 5:14 - Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Towards those busybodies walking among us... the brethren!

II Thessalonians 3:12 - Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

More simple exhortation directed toward us!

I Timothy 2:1 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Towards the youth...

I Timothy 4:13 - Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Titus 2:6 - Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Towards Christian workers concerning their Christian bosses.

The Christian work ethic testimony has failed over the years thanks to unions, love of money, greed, etc.

Don't take advantage of that 'relationship.'

I Timothy 6:2 - And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
The Lord has a lot to say to those who teach this doctrine otherwise...

I Timothy 6:3+ - If any man teach otherwise... ... He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

It isn't exhorting that most do anymore - especially on the streets... the bible folks seem to have lost their longsuffering and doctrine.

II Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Opinions and denominational teachings instead of doctrine are flying in the streets and pulpits today!

Like a baptist pastor with his baptist manual open on his desk instead of his bible...

Exhort with Sound doctrine

Titus 1:9 - Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Here is sound doctrine - go for it - I dare you!

See Titus 2:1-1-10; 11-14

Titus 2:15 - These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

The tough stuff:
Speak - something finally needs to be said!
Exhort - now you need to say it with passion and drive, etc.
