Paul's Manner of Life Ensample - Fully Known?

Part X

But... ... FULLY known ...???
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
II Timothy 3:10

...After hearing parts I-VI...
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:18

When you know it will cause you and / or your family to...
a... stumble,
b... not be edified,
c... do something or be around something that isn't expedient,
d... could put a power over you / family,
e... do something that is just an occasion for the flesh,
- then eventually you must:
Speak... part VII
Exhort... part VIII
Reprove... part IX
Admonish... part IX
Rebuke... part IX
(part X review a few parts left out during part IX)

But if those don't work, then we should...
...do something about it... but not 'to them' - to you!
If affects others, but you do it to yourself!

The Christian life is about pleasing God with what pleases God, not what pleases us!
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus,
that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God,
so ye would abound more and more.
I Thessalonians 4:1
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak,
and not to please ourselves.
Romans 15:1
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will,
according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Ephesians 1:9
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
II Timothy 3:4
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
II Thessalonians 2:12

There comes a time to grow up; a time to quit thinking about ourselves!
Paul's teachings show us how!
Ephesians 4:14; Grow up with solid doctrine and stand!
I Corinthians 13:11 - Put away childish things!

If we live to please God and not ourselves, then for the sake of the truth and a true testimony of that truth,
and knowing that we are not ashamed of the testimony of the Lord nor of Paul,
there comes times that we need to:

AVOID But remember I Corinthians 5:9-13.

We can't go out of the world to stay away from the lost, etc.

But... put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

And who is that wicked person? The brother that..., not the world!

Note on extortioners: many pastors today are extortioners these days when they preach the Great Commission and Peter, etc.

The threat of chastisement, Christ's rejection and withdrawing fellowship with you, God's judgment affecting your health, income, family, etc. is used to scare folks to 'do right' when it comes to the church business and activities.

avoid

Romans 16:17: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
II Timothy 2:23 - But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Titus 3:9 - But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

All things are lawful, so what is there to strive about the law?

I Corinthians 6:12 - All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
I Corinthians 10:23 - All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Yet the law does have a purpose!

I Timothy 1:8 - But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

Galatians 3:24,25 - Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

withdraw from such

II Thessalonians 3:6 - Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
I Timothy 6:3-5 - If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

not strive

II Timothy 2:14 - (read 14-18) Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

the non-rightly dividers!

II Timothy 2:24-26 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

P.S. - Christians can be taken captive, as well - of course - their flesh!!

DO strive to preach Paul's gospel where Christ isn't named...

Romans 15:20 - Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

DO strive in prayers to God for Paul... us...

Romans 15:30 - Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

We must still strive to do it right!

I Corinthians 9:25 - And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
II Timothy 2:5 - And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

according to rightly dividing, of course!

neither give heed

I Timothy 1:4 - Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

fables - jewish teachings, etc.
endless genealogies - apostolic succession, catholic AND baptist!

purge

I Corinthians 5:7 - Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
II Timothy 2:19-21 - Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

reject

Titus 3:10 - A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
But not everyone that 'does wrong.'

Galatians 4:14 - And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Romans 14:10 - But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

"Naught" - Trifling; vain; futile; insignificant. Of no force; inoperative; ineffectual.
