Another Sermon for the Starving Bible Believing Christians All Over the World Wide Web
2006 - Touchet Baptist Church, Touchet, Washington - Pastor Mike Paulson - 2006
Expounding the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:26 - with the Scriptures Rightly Divided - II Timothy 2:15
A Majestic Mess

We already know the conclusion to this message, but here it is in a 'more excellent way!'  And maybe this will help folks here not 'fall away' as many seem to do as they continue to 'build up' their kingdom down here!

In our most recent sermon, we heard about the word 'glorious' - and how rightly dividing makes it even more understandable & in greater detail!

OBTAINING OF THE GLORY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

Now tonight - let's continue by looking at  II Thessalonians 2:14 - Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We really shouldn't be surprised at what that says.  We talk about 'receiving' Christ, right?  Then we must also receive that glory as well if we receive Him!

Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

If we have obtained His glory, how is it we are to show it today?

A.  From Christ to the Gospels and Acts? - The modern Christianity trend of the Great Commission and beyond?
OK - Now, let's pause and jump into this for a few minutes...

Look at word MAJESTY

This was my original intent for tonight - to follow up the GLORIOUS sermon with one on MAJESTY.

I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
Psalm 145:5

To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts,
and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
Psalm 145:12

Here is what I found:

a.  Majesty is applied to God in OT!
b.  There is nothing about majesty in Gospels or Paul!
c.  Only a few references in Hebrews to Jude and it is even mentioned in OT for Tribulation application

Interesting?  Is there any significance in this observation?
Yes - very much!

God:
1Chron:29:11: Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Job:37:22: Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.

Ps:45:3,4  Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

Ps:93:1:  The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Ps:96:6: Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Ps:104:1: Bless the LORD, O my soul.  O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Ps:145:5: I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

Future Tribulation application, too.
Isa:2:10: Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.

Isa:2:19: And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

Isa:2:21: To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

Isa:24:14: They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

They won't!  Isa:26:10: Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.

They won't!  Ezek:7:20: As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them. (for more, also see Amos 5:21-27)

New Testament!
No Gospels!
No Pauline Epistles!
More on the Tribulation time clock!
Heb:1:3: Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;  (Note the Capital "M")

Heb:8:1: Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens(Note the Capital "M" again)

2Pt:1:16: For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty This is more proof of the Deity of Christ!

Jude 1:25: To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.  Majesty belongs to God, not to us!

Not Now!
Maybe because that Physical kingdom was God's as it was mentioned in the OT...
and the Gospels were not (although they could have been) - it was not going to be a physical kingdom;  John 18:36: Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Nor was it during Paul's times.   Romans 14:17 - For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

We are NOT to strive for majesty!
Majesty is a physical kingdom and is reserved for HIS physical kingdom!

Today, people are trying to make their 'kingdom' a majesticly godly one, based on wrongly dividing the Scriptures.
Today, Modern Christianity is a majestic mess, not a majestic kingdom.  ...knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

It is the BOOK - the KJB - that is the majestic one today!
This is the glory we obtain!
That is what we are to take it with us to the ends of the earth.

Our testimony is to be a spiritual kingdom based on a RD KJB as preached by Paul -
- not a physical kingdom based on WD!

Conclusion & Challenge

See I Thessalonians 1:5-10 for the true message all of us, as missionaries here and abroad, should be presenting to folks!  Not a majestic kingdom today, but tomorrow!  Today, we present Paul's gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ!
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.  For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;  And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

The King James Bible - as the Word of God, is full of majesty!
Ps:29:4: The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
Micah:5:4: And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.  See also Psalm 138:2 - I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

It is a Holy & Glorious Book -
- full of the majesty of God!
