How To Live Peaceably
With All Men?
|
Well, almost with
all men...
Part IV - Meekness
If
it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans
12:18
Let
us therefore follow after the things which make for peace,
and
things wherewith one may edify another.
Romans
14:19
Meekness vs Boldness
am service - meekness
pm service - boldness
Meek
1. Mild of temper; soft;
gentle; not easily provoked or irritated; yielding; given to forbearance
under injuries.
Now the man Moses was very
meek, above all men. Numbers 12.
2. Appropriately, humble,
in an evangelical sense; submissive to the divine will; not proud, self-sufficient
or refractory; not peevish and apt to complain of divine dispensations.
Note: Yes, the man Moses was very
meek, above all men. Numbers 12:3-8.
But that is according to the 1828,
but be sure to read a few more verses - God gives Moses mouth to mouth
words - and so Moses gets what he needs even though he is meek. Ya
gotta watch those small little inserts in these books!
The word boldness is not in the OT
, but courage is!
Here are the verses we looked
at today!
-
I Corinthians
4:21
-
II Corinthians
10:1
-
Galatians 5:23
-
Galatians 6:1
-
Ephesians 4:2
-
Colossians
3:12
-
I Timothy 6:11
-
II Timothy
2:25
-
Titus 3:2
It is more than obvious, there is a
meekness that Paul talks about towards us as Christians today.
-
However, is it a meekness that demands
us to be walked over - to be silent when truth is being attacked - to compromise,
etc?
-
Will we 'inherit' the earth with our
meekness? No!
-
Review the opening notes in parts I-III
for comments to those questions.
Learning from Paul, we all come to a
wall eventually that we don't want to climb over - the wall the pertains
to the walk. Sure in a meek manner, we are to still be bold as a
Christian. See the p.m. service on boldness!

The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and we try to apply the 'TO!"
