Holiness
The Real Purpose for a Christian
part III - Conclusion
See part I for the introduction - Holiness in the Scriptures
See part II for the main sermon on Holiness

What about Hebrews - James - I II III John - Jude - Revelation?
They are Jewish flavoured.  If it doesn't fit Paul's gospel, then it is TO the Jews for Tribulation, etc.  If it fits, then it is still FOR us, but the input is still directed to the Jews.  "New Christians" don't need to get confused in these books.  Pastors only confuse these folks - they want to be their scholarly degreed 'pope' with their greek and God-given personal understanding and knowledge 'without' the RD'd word of truth!

What about Peter?
Remember, there is also Jewish flavour in I II Peter.  He is only teaching what Paul has taught him - and he is taking it to the Jews - that was his bunch, amen?  They are big on being holy - so to tell them to be holy is nothing new to them to hear - but HOW they were to be Holy is what they didn't want to hear!  THROUGH CHRIST, as taught by Paul!

Peters preaching can also remind us that because we ARE Holy, we should walk holy, according to Paul's gospel.  Romans 2:16; 16:25
see II Peter 3:14-18 - Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

I Peter 1:15 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
I Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I Peter 2:5 - Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
I Peter 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
II Peter 3:11 - Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Folks - bottom line is that it is the walk of Holiness that pleases God!
I Chronicles 16:29 - Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalm 29:2 - Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalm 96:9 - O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

But remember, we already ARE Holy if we are saved!
Colossians 2:12 - Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Ephesians 1:6 - To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Colossians 1:21,22 - And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Jesus Christ shows us the Holy Walk that pleases Him - THROUGH PAUL!

Here in Touchet - we are to apply this learning to the work of the ministry...
Ephesians 4

Have we lost our first love?  Have we forgotten that our life is all about HIM, not us!  Do we ever worship the creature more than the Creator?  Romans 1:25

Let's walk worthy of the vocation he called us to - the walk of a Saint!  We should walk worthy of what He made us to be - Ephesians 4:1 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

We are known how we love God - by our walk!  I Corinthians 8:3 -  But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

We are HIS workmanship, not ours!  Ephesians 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Be zealous of that holy walk!  Titus 2:14 -  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Maintain a holy walk!  Titus 3:8  This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Our walk will give us our garment!  Revelation 19:8 - And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

We CAN please God with a holy walk - it can be done!  I Thessalonians 4:1-2+7 -  Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.  For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. +++

We will suffer, though - you know that, right? II Timothy 3:12-14 - Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.  But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

Our 'reigningship' tomorrow depends on our holy walk today!  II Timothy 2:11,12 -  It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

This is what makes us vessels of mercy & gold!  Romans 9:22,23 - What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, ... II Timothy 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

Remembering that you ARE Holy...
...is what will change your understanding of the Scriptures!
You will continue to see more of the riches of the full assurance of understanding!

P.S. Do 'holy music' for a 'holy Saviour!'

Rejoice in HIS holiness - according to Paul's teachings, thus we truly have an honest rejoicing situation!

You can truly rejoice over the simple fact that Christ has already made you holy!  Then, as you grow and learn more of the 'holy' walk according to Paul, you rejoice even more in the Lord because it was Him that gave you those victories that you have been so longing for!

Don't sound like you are guilty of Isaiah 43:24b-25 any longer!
...thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake,
and will not remember thy sins.

Do you quench and grieve the Holy Spirit in your walk?

Remember, don't do right to "BE" Holy...
... Do right BECAUSE YOU ARE Holy!
