Believe IN Jesus
Matthew 18:6 - ...which believe in me...
John 7:5 - For neither did his brethren believe in him.
John 12:36 - While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
John 14:1 - Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
Believe in him in that He was "that Christ!"
John 6:69 - And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
John 20:31 - But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

New Testament - Paul
Believe ON Jesus
Romans 4:24 - But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Philippians 1:29 - For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
I Timothy 1:16 - Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Also note:
John 7:39 - ...for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 17:20 - Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

II. Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Hear - the word of truth
Believe in - Jesus Christ
Trust (on) - Jesus Christ

III.  His Promises
Psalm 119:66 -Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments. etc.,
Hear - KJB!
Believe in - those words!
Believe on - take action!
IV.  Paul
Hear Paul
Acts 28:28: Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
Philippians 4:9 - Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
II Timothy 4:17 - Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
Believe in what he said - the Greater Commission, as I call it.
Trust what he has said to us about Christ - take action based on Rightly Divided word of truth - II Timothy 2:15,16

Approved Unto God
Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
Not to be ashamed
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

V. The other choice!
II Timothy 2:16 - ...profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
VI. Finally, No Choice!
No hearing
Amos 8:11-13 - Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
